Senior Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/x)

For our subsidiary BAUER Corporate Services Private Ltd. in Mumbai, India we are searching for a new team member as Senior Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/x).

Your tasks

- Designing and developing heavy mechanical sub-assemblies for drilling equipment, including welded structures and machined components such as drill masts, mast bases and top drives
- Taking full ownership of engineering tasks from concept refinement to detailed SolidWorks design, independent engineering calculations, validation and release of production-ready designs
- Performing preliminary structural checks using hand calculations and SolidWorks Simulation and coordinating with the FEA team for detailed analysis
- Preparing shop-floor-ready drawings with correct dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T;, welding specifications and assembly clarity, while managing drawing releases, revisions and technical documentation in the PLM system
- Supporting prototype development, manufacturing and production by resolving design-related issues, implementing design improvements and ensuring compliance with US engineering standards and manufacturing practices

Your profile





- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or comparable qualification, with several years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in heavy engineering equipment, industrial machinery or structural equipment
- Strong knowledge of machine and structural design, strength of materials, applied mechanics and finite element methods, with proven experience designing welded structures and heavy load-bearing mechanical assemblies
- Solid proficiency in SolidWorks or similar software, including 3D modelling, manufacturing drawings and simulation; experience with imperial units, material standards, hardware selection and power-transmission components such as gearboxes, drives, shafts and bearings is desirable

- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, cast component manufacture and mechanism design (kinematics), with experience in drilling equipment or related machinery being an advantage
- Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written English
