The Technical Consultant - ERP is responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, implementation, and ongoing support of the company’s on-premise SAP HR/Payroll environment. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for SAP HR/Payroll configuration and processing. This role will collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and other technology partners to define solutions that meet business requirements and organizational objectives.
The SAP HR/Payroll Architect will also provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentoring to other team members while ensuring solutions are aligned with established development, change management, security, and support processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and/or support on-premise SAP HR/Payroll ECC 6 EHP8 in a manufacturing environment.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for SAP Payroll with experience in Personnel Administration, Organizational Management, and Benefits configuration.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective SAP HR/Payroll designs and configuration solutions.
- Develop alternative solutions, evaluate options, and present recommendations to business stakeholders and IT management.
- Configure, test, implement, and support SAP HR/Payroll changes within a formal System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and change management methodology.
- Provide ongoing production support, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex SAP HR/Payroll issues.
- Implement, maintain, support, and troubleshoot the Rsite Tax Engine, including coordination with Rimini Street and the application, testing, and validation of tax updates and releases.
- Manage the impact of Rsite Tax Engine updates on SAP Payroll, including payroll configuration, tax calculations, testing, regression testing, and production implementation.
- Partner with Rimini Street and other vendors to investigate and resolve tax engine, payroll, and integration-related issues.
- Support payroll tax compliance activities by ensuring applicable federal, state, and local tax updates are appropriately tested and implemented in the Rsite Tax Engine/SAP Payroll environment.
- Understand and manage integration touchpoints between SAP HR/Payroll, Rsite Tax Engine, SuccessFactors, Kronos Workforce Management, and other downstream or upstream applications.
- Implement and support SaaS solutions and their integrations with SAP HR/Payroll.
- Manage, prioritize, and complete support requests for a large and complex organization.
- Estimate and plan work effort for projects, enhancements, upgrades, tax updates, and production support activities.
- Independently perform technical, configuration, testing, documentation, and process-related activities.
- Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation, configuration documentation, test scripts, and support procedures.
- Work collaboratively across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and external vendor teams with a focus on overall business success.
- Build strong relationships and trust with business users, IT stakeholders, vendors, and management.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to team members and end users as appropriate.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–8 years of hands-on SAP HR/Payroll experience, including configuration and production support.
- Solid technical and functional knowledge of SAP HR/Payroll ECC 6.
- Strong experience with SAP Payroll including experience with Personnel Administration, , Benefits configuration, and Financial Postings.
- Demonstrated experience supporting payroll tax processing and tax-related configuration.
- Hands-on experience with Rimini Street Rsite Tax Engine, including implementation, configuration/support, testing, and application of tax updates. Other tax engine experience will be considered.
- Experience working with Rimini Street and coordinating the implementation and testing of vendor-provided tax and payroll updates is a plus.
- Understanding of integrations between SAP HR/Payroll and external HR, payroll, tax, and other applications.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience working within a formal SDLC/change management process, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, implementation, and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with end users, IT staff, business stakeholders, and management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, collaboration, and knowledge-transfer skills.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to learn recent technologies and business processes and utilize available resources effectively.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP SuccessFactors.
- Experience with Kronos Workforce Management version 8 or higher.
- Experience with Rsite, BSI TaxFactory/TUBs, and/or other SAP payroll tax solutions.
- Experience with SaaS HR/payroll solutions and enterprise application integrations.
- Experience coordinating with third-party application and managed-service providers.
- Experience with payroll tax compliance, year-end processing, and tax update testing.
- Experience leading SAP HR/Payroll projects, enhancements, or major production initiatives.
