Dental Assistant Job Description

A Dental Assistant supports dentists in providing high-quality oral healthcare by preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental procedures, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring patient comfort. They play a key role in maintaining an organized, secure, and productive dental practice while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures.
Assist the dentist during restorative, surgical, and preventive treatments.
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays (where permitted by certification and regulations).
Prepare and organize treatment rooms before and after patient visits.
Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-treatment care,



and preventive dental practices.
Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories.
Schedule appointments, manage patient files, and assist with front-office duties as needed.
Monitor inventory and order dental supplies.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
