Job Summary

The Vitamin & Mineral Premix Formulator will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing micronutrient premixes for human nutrition applications, ensuring nutritional efficacy, stability, regulatory compliance, and manufacturability.

This role requires deep technical understanding, combining nutrition science, formulation chemistry, and industrial scalability.

Job Responsibilities: Accountabilities Scope of work

Premix Formulation & Development

•Design vitamin & mineral premixes for:

•Dietary supplements

•Functional foods & beverages

•Dairy, bakery, infant & adult nutrition formats

•Select appropriate vitamin forms, mineral salts, carriers, diluents, and encapsulation systems





•Perform elemental correction, assay adjustment, overages, and potency calculations

•Optimize formulations for:

•Bioavailability

•Stability (heat, moisture, light, oxidation)

•Sensory neutrality (taste, colour, odour)

Compatibility & Technology Selection

•Evaluate ingredient compatibility:

•Vitamin–vitamin

•Vitamin–mineral

•Mineral–mineral (e.g., Fe–Zn–Cu interactions)

•Select technologies such as:

•Lipid encapsulation

•Polymer coating

•Granulation / agglomeration

•Recommend suitable forms (e.g., zinc oxide vs gluconate, iron fumarate vs sulphate)

Regulatory & Compliance

•Ensure compliance with:

•FSSAI (India)  Codex / WHO guidelines

•Prepare:

oPremix specifications oLabel claim justifications oStability & shelf‑life rationale oSupport customer and regulatory audits with clear scientific documentation

Manufacturing & Scale‑up Support

- Translate lab formulations to:
- Pilot scale
- Commercial batch production
- Work closely with production on:
- Blending order & segregation control
- Flowability and density optimization
- Reproducibility across batch sizes
- Troubleshoot issues such as:
- Assay variability
- Segregation
- Caking or discoloration

Stability, Validation & Documentation
- Design and monitor:
- Accelerated & real‑time stability studies
- Evaluate:

o Assay drift o Vitamin degradation patterns o Prepare and review:

o Formulation dossiers o BMRs / SOPs o Technical data sheets (TDS)

The Person

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in: Food Technology / Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences

Competency Levels

1. General Awareness:

•Possesses a fundamental understanding of concepts. •Working Knowledge: 5-7 years of hands‑on experience in:
1. Vitamin & mineral premix formulation
2. Human nutrition / supplement industry
