Job Profile: Release Engineer

Location: Chennai, India

Preferred experience: - 5+ years The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Release Engineer who has strong hands-on experience in Release Management, Build & Deployment, CI/CD, and application support within large-scale enterprise environments. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in managing Java/J2EE application releases and deployment activities, along with hands-on expertise in Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Nexus, Liquibase, and Groovy scripting. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability of non-production environments, executing build and deployment activities, enhancing DevOps pipelines, supporting UAT and functional testing teams, and contributing to DevOps/Cloud initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Release & Deployment Management

- Manage end-to-end build, release, and deployment activities across Development, QA, UAT, and non-production environments.
- Ensure high availability and stability of non-production environments.
- Package and deploy Java/J2EE applications across multiple environments.
- Coordinate application releases with Development, QA, Functional Testing, and other stakeholders.
- Manage release schedules, deployment validation, rollback procedures, and post-deployment activities.
- Support large-scale, multi-tier web application release management.





DevOps & CI/CD

- Design, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for existing and new applications.
- Work extensively with Jenkins and Maven for automated build and deployment processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve deployment efficiency through automation.
- Support strategic DevOps/Cloud initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

Containerization & Kubernetes

- Work hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) for application packaging and deployment.
- Manage application deployments using Helm charts.
- Troubleshoot container, Kubernetes, and deployment-related issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve application and environment issues.

Configuration, Build & Automation

- Manage source code and configurations using Git and related tools.
- Use Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation.
- Manage application artifacts using Nexus.
- Support Liquibase for database change and deployment management.
- Develop and maintain Groovy scripts for Jenkins and deployment automation.

Application & Environment Support

- Provide application support during build, deployment, UAT, and release activities.
- Troubleshoot build failures, deployment issues, application errors, and environment-related problems.
- Work closely with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Application Support teams.
- Provide support for BAU and project-related activities.

Technology & Documentation

- Have a basic understanding of Java/J2EE, Tomcat, Apache/IHS, MQ, and multi-tier application architecture.




- Write basic SQL queries for troubleshooting and validation.
- Maintain Knowledge Base documents, deployment guides, and operational documentation.
- Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members.
- Explore and leverage AI tools to improve day-to-day engineering and operational activities.

Must - Have Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in Release Management / Build & Deployment

· Strong hands-on experience with Jenkins · Strong hands-on experience with Docker & Kubernetes (K8s)

· Experience with Ansible

· Positive understanding of configuration tools like GIT, Wiki, etc

· Strong knowledge of Git and Maven

· Hands-on experience with Liquibase

· Experience with Nexus / Artifact Repository

· Experience with Groovy scripting or equivalent scripting

- Should have basic knowledge of writing SQL queries and understand basic error codes
- Experience in packaging and deploying Java/J2EE applications
- Good understanding of SDLC and Agile development/release processes

· Experience in large-scale, multi-tier application release management · Basic knowledge of Java/J2EE, Tomcat, Apache/IHS, MQ, SQL, and databases

· Hands-on experience with Helm and Kubernetes deployments

· Exposure to AWS or Azure Cloud

· Experience with Groovy-based Jenkins pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

· Knowledge of ITIL, Change Management, Incident Management, and Release Management

· Experience in Banking / Financial Services / Enterprise IT environments

· Exposure to AI tools and AI-assisted engineering practices

· Experience working in 24x7/global application support environments

. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
