Role Summary
We are seeking an EV Electrical & Electronics / Powertrain Integration Engineer to support the integration, development, and validation of electrical and electronic systems for electric vehicles. The role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, NPD, sourcing, and testing teams to ensure seamless integration and reliable performance of EV powertrain and vehicle electrical systems.
The role will report to the Lead – Electrical & Electronics.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate EV powertrain components including traction motors, motor controllers, batteries, BMS, chargers, clusters, and other vehicle electrical systems.
- Support the integration and validation of Battery and Battery Management Systems (BMS) into the vehicle architecture.
- Design, develop, and implement CAN communication architecture for vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Collaborate with testing teams to conduct performance, durability, reliability, and functional validation of powertrain, battery, BMS, charger, cluster, and related systems.
- Analyze system-level performance and support software-based performance estimation and validation.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and support root-cause analysis of electrical, electronic, communication, and integration issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers, NPD, sourcing, and cross-functional engineering teams for component development, integration, and issue resolution.
- Support DFMEA, design reviews, and risk assessment activities for electrical and electronic systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable EV homologation, safety, EMI/EMC, and regulatory requirements, including AIS standards.
- Support homologation activities and follow up on compliance requirements throughout the product development cycle.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, specifications, and validation records.
- Support continuous improvement of EV electrical and electronic systems for performance, reliability, safety, and cost optimization.
Technical Skills / Tech Stack
- Strong fundamentals in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- Strong understanding of EV powertrain architecture.
- Positive knowledge of traction motors and motor controllers.
- Robust understanding of Li-ion battery systems and battery composition.
- Good knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS), including protection and monitoring functions.
- Strong understanding of power electronics and EV electrical systems.
- Hands-on understanding of CAN communication and CAN architecture.
- Knowledge of AIS-156 and EV homologation requirements.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC requirements and testing.
- Knowledge of DFMEA and system-level risk analysis.
- Experience with engineering/design tools such as Creo or CATIA is preferred.
- Understanding of vehicle-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
Must-Have Skills
- Experience working with EV electrical/electronic systems or EV powertrain.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Motor & Motor Controller integration.
- Strong knowledge of Battery and BMS systems.
- Practical understanding of CAN communication and vehicle CAN architecture.
- Knowledge of power electronics.
- Understanding of AIS-156 and EV homologation requirements.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC requirements and testing.
- Experience in vehicle/component testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
