About the Role
4PM News Network is looking for a dynamic and digitally savvy Multimedia Reporter to join our Mumbai team. The ideal candidate should have strong reporting skills and a keen understanding of entertainment or crime.
This role is ideal for a journalist who can independently spot a story, report from the ground, conduct interviews, shoot video, write compelling copies and create social-media-first content.
You will be expected to work across platforms, with a solid focus on digital video, YouTube, Instagram and other social-media platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Report and cover entertainment, celebrity OR crime stories from Mumbai and surrounding areas.
- Develop original story ideas by monitoring news, social media, trends and local sources.
- Conduct on-camera interviews with celebrities, public figures, eyewitnesses, police officials, experts and other relevant sources.
- Cover breaking news and events from the ground with speed and accuracy.
- Shoot high-quality videos, interviews, reels and other multimedia content using smartphones and/or professional cameras.
- Write engaging news stories, video scripts, headlines, captions and social-media copies.
- Create short-form, social-media-first videos for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
- Build and maintain a strong network of sources across the police, entertainment industry, PR agencies, production houses and local communities.
- Verify information, videos, photographs and social-media claims before publication.
- Follow journalistic ethics, accuracy and responsible reporting practices, particularly while covering crime and sensitive cases.
- Identify viral and emerging stories and quickly turn them into compelling digital content.
- Coordinate with editors, video editors, producers and the wider newsroom.
- Attend press conferences, events, film/TV promotions,
police briefings and other assignments as required.
- Be comfortable working flexible hours, including during breaking news situations.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–6 years of experience in journalism, digital media, television, news reporting or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Mumbai's news, entertainment and media ecosystem.
- Excellent Hindi and English communication skills. Knowledge of Marathi will be an advantage.
- Strong reporting, interviewing and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to work independently and deliver stories under tight deadlines.
- Good understanding of YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and digital news trends.
- Comfortable appearing on camera and conducting interviews.
- Ability to shoot usable video and photographs on a smartphone.
- Strong sense of what makes a story newsworthy, engaging and potentially viral.
- Good research and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to develop reliable sources and maintain professional relationships.
- Willingness to travel across Mumbai for assignments.
