Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management

- Plan and monitor daily Heat Treatment production activities for SQF and CMBF furnaces.
- Ensure achievement of production targets as per customer requirements and production schedules.
- Monitor furnace loading patterns, cycle times, and process parameters for optimum productivity.
- Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Dispatch departments.

Process Control & • Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to Heat Treatment process parameters including:
- Temperature
- Carbon Potential
- Quenching Parameters
- Soaking Time
- Cooling Rates
- Monitor hardness, case depth, microstructure, and metallurgical properties.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, CQI-9 requirements, and internal quality standards.
- Lead process capability improvements and root cause analysis for quality concerns.

Furnace Operations
- Oversee operation and maintenance of:
- Sealed Quench Furnace (SQF)
- Continuous Mesh Belt Furnace (CMBF)
- Quench Systems
- Tempering Furnaces
- Endothermic Gas Generators
- Ensure furnace calibration, TUS, SAT, and preventive maintenance activities are conducted as per schedule.

Team Management
- Lead and supervise Heat Treatment engineers,



supervisors, operators, and technicians.
- Ensure manpower planning, skill development, and training.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify competency enhancement requirements.

Safety & • Compliance
- Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Drive safety initiatives and zero accident culture in the Heat Treatment department.
- Ensure proper handling of LPG, Natural Gas, Nitrogen, Methanol, Quench Oil, and other process chemicals.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.

Maintenance & • Reliability
- Coordinate with Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Improve equipment reliability and furnace uptime.
- Monitor critical spares inventory and utility consumption.

Continuous Improvement
- Drive Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for:
- Energy saving
- Cycle time reduction
- Yield improvement
- Cost reduction
- Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.

Documentation & • Reporting
- Maintain production records, quality reports, furnace logs, and maintenance records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer audit requirements.

Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering / Production Engineering.
- Additional certification in Heat Treatment, Metallurgy, CQI-9, or Quality Systems preferred.

Experience
- 8 to 15 years of experience in Heat Treatment operations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience handling SQF and/or CMBF Furnaces in Automotive or Engineering industries.
- Experience in carburizing, carbonitriding, hardening, tempering, annealing, and normalizing processes.
