Position Overview The Manager – Fraud Investigation & Risk Advisory will lead and execute complex fraud investigations, fraud risk assessments, procurement reviews, forensic data analytics, and process reviews across multiple industries. The role involves identifying fraud risks, conducting forensic examinations, evaluating internal controls, leveraging data analytics to detect anomalies, and recommending practical risk mitigation measures. The incumbent will manage client engagements, mentor team members, and interact with senior management to deliver high-quality forensic and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
Fraud Investigations
- Lead and manage corporate fraud investigations involving financial irregularities, employee misconduct, procurement fraud, asset misappropriation, bribery and corruption, conflict of interest, and regulatory violations.
- Develop investigation strategies, identify key risk areas, and perform detailed review of financial and operational records.
- Conduct interviews with employees, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Review electronic and physical evidence, analyse financial transactions, and establish fund flows where required.
- Prepare investigation reports summarising findings, evidence, conclusions, and recommendations.
Fraud Risk Assessments
- Plan and conduct enterprise-wide and process-specific Fraud Risk Assessments (FRA).
- Identify fraud schemes, inherent and residual risks, control gaps, and process vulnerabilities.
- Facilitate workshops with business and process owners to assess fraud scenarios.
- Develop fraud risk registers, risk-control matrices, heat maps, and mitigation plans.
- Recommend preventive, detective, and corrective controls aligned with leading practices.
Procurement Reviews
- Conduct forensic and compliance reviews of procurement and sourcing functions.
- Review vendor onboarding, tendering, bid evaluations, purchase approvals, contract management, vendor payments,
and conflict-of-interest scenarios.
- Identify instances of bid manipulation, split purchases, duplicate vendors, fictitious vendors, overbilling, kickbacks, and other procurement irregularities.
- Evaluate procurement governance and recommend process improvements.
Data Analytics
- Perform forensic data analytics using structured and unstructured datasets.
- Design analytical tests to identify anomalies, suspicious transactions, duplicate payments, unusual vendor patterns, round-dollar transactions, split purchases, Benford's Law exceptions, and related-party indicators.
- Interpret analytical findings and integrate them into investigation and audit procedures.
- Work with large datasets from ERP systems and databases to support investigations and reviews.
Process Reviews & Internal Controls
- Review business processes and evaluate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
- Identify process inefficiencies, control weaknesses, fraud vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps.
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen governance and reduce fraud exposure.
- Assist clients in enhancing fraud prevention frameworks and control environments.
Client & Project Management
- Independently manage multiple engagements from planning through reporting.
- Prepare engagement plans, timelines, resource allocation, and status updates.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and clients.
- Ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality standards.
Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Review workpapers and deliverables to ensure technical quality.
- Conduct training sessions on fraud risk management, investigations, and forensic analytics.
- Support recruitment and capability development initiatives.
Business Development
- Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and scope documents.
- Support client relationship management and identify opportunities for additional advisory services.
- Contribute to development of methodologies, investigation tools, and knowledge repositories.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) etc would be added advantage
Experience:
- 5–8 years of experience in Fraud Investigation, Forensic Advisory, Internal Audit, Risk Advisory, or Forensic Data Analytics.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Robust knowledge of fraud investigation methodologies and forensic accounting principles.
- Experience in Fraud Risk Assessments (FRA) and fraud risk management frameworks.
- Understanding of procurement lifecycle and procurement fraud schemes.
- Experience in forensic data analytics and interpretation of large datasets.
- Knowledge of business processes, internal controls, governance, and risk management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements under tight timelines.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- Power BI / Tableau / SQL (preferred)
- ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar (preferred)
- Microsoft Office Suite
