About the position

CEPT University Workshop plays an integral role in supporting learning through hands-on experimentation, exploration of materials, model making and prototyping. The workshop has dedicated facilities for working in wood, metal, ceramic, textile, model-making and a Fabrication-Lab.

CEPT University invites applications for the position of Junior Lab Operator (3D Concrete Printing Robotic Arm). The candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the CEPT Workshops by operating, maintaining, and assisting in the efficient functioning of the Concrete 3D Printing Robotic Arm. The role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols while coordinating with faculty members, students, researchers, and workshop staff to support academic, research, and fabrication activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Responsible for the day-to-day operation, routine upkeep,



and handling of the advanced 3D concrete printing robotic arm at the CEPT.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the Concrete 3D Printing Robotic Arm and associated equipment to ensure safe and efficient day-to-day operations.
- Prepare, calibrate, and inspect the machine before printing operations, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Review digital models, perform design checks, and verify G-code files to ensure accurate translation of digital designs into printed concrete structures.
- Assist in material preparation, machine setup, troubleshooting, and routine preventive maintenance of the robotic arm and related systems.
- Identify and resolve minor electrical, mechanical, or operational issues and coordinate with technical experts for major repairs when required.
- Maintain records of printing activities, machine usage, maintenance schedules, and material consumption.
- Support faculty members, students, and researchers in the execution of academic, research, and prototyping projects involving concrete 3D printing.
- Ensure compliance with workshop safety protocols and promote safe operating practices within the facility.
- Coordinate with workshop staff for scheduling, logistics, and the smooth execution of fabrication activities.

Qualifications & Experience





- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics/Automation, Civil Engineering, or Architecture Assistantship.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in machine operation, fabrication, manufacturing, robotics, automation, or related technical environments.

Expertise required

- Knowledge of engineering drawings and basic CNC machining or 3D printing concepts.
- Familiarity with G-code generation, verification, and machine path interpretation.
- Understanding of electrical control panels, sensors, actuators, and basic mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and rectify minor electrical or mechanical faults during machine operation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary academic environment with faculty members, students, and researchers.
- Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to workplace safety.
- Flexibility to work beyond regular hours when required for project execution.
