Job Title: Professional Diesel Mechanic
Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment across various sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent diagnostic skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a rapid-paced workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults in diesel engines and related systems, including fuel, exhaust, cooling, transmission, and electrical systems
- Repair, rebuild, or replace components such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, cooling systems, filters, and starters
- Perform scheduled servicing, including oil changes, coolant flushes, and filter replacements
- Maintain and repair vehicle and equipment electrical systems and controls
- Conduct inspections and safety/emission compliance checks
- Use diagnostic tools, software, and testing equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment, and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors, and liaise with clients on repairs and cost estimates
Requirements
• Relevant trade certificate or diploma in Diesel Mechanics,
Heavy Automotive, Mechanical Engineering Technician, or similar
- Formal training or apprenticeship in mechanical or diesel systems preferred
- At least 2-4 years' experience working on diesel engines/vehicles/equipment
- Experience in diagnostics, repair, and rebuilding of heavy vehicle or industrial machinery
- Strong technical/mechanical aptitude and good understanding of engine systems, electrical, hydraulic, transmission, etc.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical diagrams
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and able to handle heavy parts, work in workshops, possibly at heights or confined spaces
- Good safety awareness and ability to adhere to safety, emissions, and environmental regulations
- Good communication skills and ability to explain issues to clients or team
- English language proficiency (PTE or IELTS certification required)

Indicative pay: Starting from NZD $31.61 per hour (as per INZ median wage requirement),
