Fashion Merchandiser & Product Developer – Dupattas

Salary: ₹15,000–₹30,000 per month

We are looking for a Fashion Merchandiser & Product Developer to join our growing textile and apparel business specializing in Dupattas.

The role is primarily focused on Merchandising and Product Development, with fashion designing as a supporting responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop new dupatta collections based on market trends, customer requirements and commercial opportunities.
- Manage the complete product development process from concept and sampling to finalization and production.
- Coordinate with fabric, dyeing, printing, embroidery, lace and other value-addition suppliers.
- Follow up on sampling, corrections, production timelines and quality.
- Develop design concepts, colour combinations, prints, borders, laces, embroidery and embellishments.
- Track fashion trends, competitor products, fabrics, colours and pricing.
- Coordinate with buyers and customers to understand requirements and feedback.
- Maintain product specifications, sample records and development details.
- Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure smooth execution.
- Develop products suitable for different customer segments and price points.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who is:
- Commercially minded and understands what sells in the market.
- Creative with a strong understanding of ethnic fashion.
- Experienced in merchandising and product development.




- Knowledgeable about fabrics, prints, colours, embroidery, lace and other textile processes.
- Strong in communication, negotiation, coordination and follow-up.
- Comfortable handling multiple product developments simultaneously.
- Able to understand costing and develop price-sensitive products.
- Familiar with CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
- Comfortable with MS Excel and Google Sheets.

Preferred Experience

Experience in Dupatta, Ethnic Wear, Kurti, Textile, Apparel Merchandising or Product Development will be preferred.

Candidates with direct experience in Dupatta merchandising or product development will have an advantage.

Education A degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel or a related field is preferred. Relevant industry experience may also be considered.

Important

This is primarily a Merchandising and Product Development position. Fashion designing will be an important supporting responsibility.

Candidates looking only for a purely creative fashion-designing role may not be the right fit.

Candidates from outside Surat should be willing to relocate.
