Divisional Manager, Safeguarding and Wellness (Global)
Role : Safeguarding, Wellness and Remedial Education Program Implementation at Group Level
Reports to : Associate Director, Safety & Safeguarding (Global), Global Schools Group
Location : Global Schools Group, Mumbai
Position Type : Full-time with travel to various school locations globally
Job Summary:
The Safeguarding and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive wellness programs that promote the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of students and staff to support their holistic development across all campuses of Global Schools Group ensuring compliance with International Standards in consultation with Heads of Schools and academic teams. This role will support strategic initiatives around trauma-informed practices, mental health support, nutrition, physical education, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning (SEL). The role will involve working closely with Behavioural Counsellors and the Heads of Schools across all GSG Schools for program implementation and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation and Coordination:
- Coordinate and support the implementation of safeguarding and wellness policies aligned with the organisation’s vision for student well-being, as developed and approved by Leadership Team and Regulatory Authorities.
- Design and deliver health and wellness programs in consultation with Heads of Schools and Academic Teams that include mindfulness, trauma awareness, SEL, nutrition, and physical activity.
- Develop and implement Special Education Needs policies, and procedures in consultation with Heads of Schools and campus remedial educators.
- Collaborate with Academic Teams to integrate wellness goals and integrate Special Education Needs processes and procedures into the school’s curriculum.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safeguarding standards.
- Ensure adherence to local and international safeguarding laws and wellness standards.
- Support Campus Designated Safety and Safeguarding Leads as also Behavioural Cousellors and Remedial Educators with training,
compliance monitoring and coordination of resources in line with organisation’s safeguarding policies. Coordinate responses to incidents concerning safeguarding in collaboration with Heads of Schools and Leadership Teams of the Organisation.
Mental Health & Counseling Co-ordination:
- Act as a liaison between school leadership, counselors, and external mental health service providers under the guidance of Associate Director Safety and Safeguarding.
- Coordinate mental health interventions, referrals, and follow-ups for students needing support in collaboration with Heads of Schools and Counselors.
- Identify gaps in school counseling services and propose actionable improvements.
- Promote a positive school culture through awareness campaigns and community engagement.
- Develop frameworks for staff well-being, including stress management and work-life balance initiatives.
- Support for Special Education Needs
- Develop policies for implementation of Special Education Needs.
- Create documentation processes in alignment of Group policies and international standards.
- Implement and integrate the Group policies for all stake holders on school campus such as teachers, counsellors, special educators, admission counsellors and Heads of Schools.
- Promote and maintain Inclusive and Diversity culture on school campuses in alignment with Curriculum Board Policies.
Staff Training & Collaboration:
- Facilitate training for teachers and staff on wellness related topics such as trauma-informed teaching, mental health first aid, and mindfulness.
- Support staff well-being initiatives and create a culture of care across campuses.
- Collaborate with PE teachers, school nurses, counsellors, special educators and external wellness professionals.
- Provide training and resources to staff on child protection, anti-bullying,
and harassment prevention.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage students, parents, and community stakeholders in wellness programs and activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents on topics related to student mental health and wellness.
- Develop partnerships with external organisations, healthcare providers, and wellness experts to enhance resources and support systems.
Data & Compliance:
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of wellness initiatives through surveys, behavioral data, and health metrics to make data-driven improvements.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with child safety, health, and safeguarding policies.
- Prepare regular reports for school leadership and governing bodies.
- Adhere to established escalation protocols and maintain strict confidentiality on all safeguarding and wellness matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology or Counseling.
- BEd/Diploma in Special Education
- Additional qualifications in Public Health, Social Work, or related field will be desirable.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in Safeguarding, Child Protection, School Wellness and Mental Health Programs, Special Education Needs, preferably in International Schools.
- Strong understanding of global educational regulations, cultural sensitivities, adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and SEL frameworks.
- Ability to design and evaluate data-driven wellness initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving skills and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Mental Health First Aid, SEL programs, or trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with diverse student populations in K-12 school environment.
- Familiarity with international regulations and school health and safety policies.
