About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Engineer with strong expertise in SQL and Data Analysis. This role requires a professional who can understand complex datasets, derive meaningful insights from data, and write optimized SQL queries to support business and engineering requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on SQL skills (80%) with working knowledge of Python (20%) for data processing and automation tasks. Candidates with excellent SQL expertise and moderate Python skills will be preferred over candidates with strong Python and average SQL capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & SQL Development

- Analyze large datasets and understand business context to derive meaningful insights.
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions.
- Perform data quality checks and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.

Advanced SQL & Database Management
- Demonstrate strong expertise in:
- Window Functions
- Set Operators (UNION, INTERSECT, MINUS/EXCEPT)
- Correlated and Nested Queries
- Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
- Subqueries and Complex Query Optimization
- Hands-on experience with all types of SQL Joins:
- Inner Join
- Left Join
- Right Join
- Full Outer Join
- Self Join
- Cross Join





Data Handling & Transformation
- Handle and manipulate different data types, including:
- Date
- Timestamp
- Numeric
- Character/String
- Work with Regular Expressions (Regex) for data cleansing, validation, and transformation.
- Perform data profiling and identify data inconsistencies and anomalies.

Database Operations
- Extensive experience with DML operations:
- INSERT
- UPDATE
- DELETE
- MERGE/UPSERT
- Support database maintenance activities and ensure efficient data operations.

Performance Optimization
- Identify query bottlenecks and implement performance improvements.
- Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
- Experience in performance tuning across databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, or other relational databases.

Python Development
- Develop Python scripts for data processing, transformation, and automation.
- Work with Python libraries for handling and manipulating structured data.
- Support ETL processes and automation requirements using Python.

Troubleshooting & Debugging
- Investigate and resolve database-related issues and data discrepancies.
- Perform root cause analysis and provide effective solutions.




- Strong debugging and error-handling capabilities in SQL and data pipelines.
- Working knowledge of PL/SQL or database procedural programming is an added advantage.

Required Skills

Mandatory

- 5-7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Analysis, or Database Development.
- Strong SQL expertise with hands-on experience in complex query writing and optimization.
- Extensive experience in data analysis and data validation.
- Solid understanding of database concepts and relational data models.
- Hands-on experience with joins, window functions, set operators, and correlated queries.
- Experience with Regular Expressions (Regex).
- Strong knowledge of DML operations and database performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of Python for data processing and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good to Have
- PL/SQL development experience.
- Experience with ETL/Data Pipeline development.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern data ecosystems.
- Experience with Git and Agile development methodologies.
