Role Description This is a full time, on-site Copyeditor/Language Editor role based in the Greater Chennai Area. The role involves copyediting and language editing manuscripts for books, journals, and other content to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to client style guides.

Responsibilities include correcting grammar and syntax, refining sentence structure, improving overall readability, and ensuring factual and stylistic accuracy. The Copyeditor/Language Editor will proofread material before final delivery, coordinate with other editorial team members, and meet defined quality and turnaround standards. The position also requires maintaining documentation of edits,



providing feedback to writers when needed, and supporting continuous improvement of editorial processes.

Qualifications

- Strong command of Grammar and language usage, with the ability to apply consistent rules and style conventions.
- Proficiency in Text Editing and Editorial work, including restructuring content for clarity, coherence, and tone.
- Excellent Proofreading skills, with attention to detail for spotting typographical, formatting, and factual errors.
- Competence in Writing and rewriting content when necessary to improve flow, accuracy, and reader engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in book or journal publishing, preferably in academic, professional, or STM (scientific, technical, medical) domains.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Chennai Area, manage multiple projects, and meet strict deadlines.
- Familiarity with style guides (such as Chicago, APA, or publisher-specific styles) and basic computer skills, including word-processing and editorial tools.
