Backend Java Engineer (Java, Springboot & Kafka)

Shift Timings: Morning Shift (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and Afternoon Shift (3:00 PM to 12:00 AM)

Years of Experience - 4 to 7 years (Mid Level)

Roles Open - 2 in the morning shift and 2 in the afternoon shift

Employment: Full-time employment with Samay India

Location: Remote (India)

On-call: Participation in a shared on-call rotation is required.

Availability: Preferring candidates who can join within 30 days or less.

We are looking for hands-on Java backend engineers to join our Sustainment & Enhancement Squad. This role focuses on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS.

The ideal candidate will have a strong development background along with production support experience. You should be comfortable troubleshooting issues across multiple services, identifying root causes, implementing permanent fixes, and working with senior engineers when issues require further escalation.

This role is suited to someone who understands how backend services communicate across systems and can effectively debug production issues while contributing to ongoing development and system improvements.

What You Will Do

- Develop a good understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, its APIs, integration points, and the upstream and downstream services that interact with it.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend services.
- Analyze application logs, database queries, API responses, Kafka events, and other system information to identify and resolve production issues.
- Troubleshoot issues across multiple services and identify whether the problem originates within the application, the database, the integration layer, or an external downstream system.
- Participate in production incident resolution, perform root cause analysis,



and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain and enhance existing Java and Spring Boot applications, including bug fixes, minor enhancements, and performance improvements.
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests and contribute to testing strategies that help identify issues before they reach production.
- Follow and contribute to coding standards, code review practices, monitoring, documentation, and other engineering best practices.
- Work closely with L3 and Lead engineers and other teams when issues require deeper technical investigation or architectural changes.
- Participate in on-call support and ensure production issues are communicated, tracked and escalated appropriately.

What You Will Bring

- 4 to 6 years of experience in Java backend development and production support.
- Robust hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong hands-on production experience with Kafka, including real-time streaming and event-driven flows.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, service-to-service communication, and distributed backend systems.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
- Experience debugging and resolving production issues in backend applications.
- Good understanding of application logs, monitoring, debugging, and root cause analysis.
- Good understanding of integration patterns and troubleshooting issues across multiple services.
- Valuable understanding of unit testing and integration testing practices.
- Ability to work independently on L2 issues while knowing when and how to escalate complex issues.
- Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation.
- Understanding of cloud platforms and DevOps practices is good to have.
