AtomFlo is building an AI-native Work Operating System that brings Projects, Chat, Documents, CRM, Communication, Marketing, Automation, and other business workflows together in one unified platform.

Our goal is to eliminate fragmented business tools and give modern teams one intelligent platform to run their entire business.

We are currently building our founding engineering team and are looking for a Backend Engineer who wants to take ownership, work closely with the CTO and product team, and help build AtomFlo from the ground up.

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power AtomFlo.

You will work closely with the CTO, Product Manager, frontend engineers, AI engineers, and other members of the engineering team to turn product requirements into scalable, secure, and reliable backend services.

This is an opportunity to join AtomFlo at an early stage, contribute meaningfully to the architecture and product, and receive ESOPs in exchange for your contribution during the pre-investment stage.

Following investment, the role is intended to transition into a full-time paid engineering position.

What You'll Build

Depending on the product roadmap, you may work on:

- Core AtomFlo backend services
- REST APIs and internal APIs
- User, workspace, and organisation management
- Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure
- Projects and task management services
- Chat and collaboration services
- CRM and business data services
- Notifications and activity systems
- Authentication and authorization
- Third-party integrations
- Background jobs and asynchronous workflows
- AI/LLM integrations and AI-powered backend services
- Data processing and automation workflows

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
- Build clean, secure, and well-documented REST APIs.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Design and maintain database schemas and productive queries.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls.
- Contribute to AtomFlo's multi-tenant architecture and data isolation strategy.




- Build integrations with internal services and third-party APIs.
- Implement background jobs, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven processes where required.
- Write unit and integration tests to maintain backend reliability.
- Debug production and development issues and identify root causes.
- Improve API performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Participate in architecture and technical discussions with the CTO and engineering team.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain engineering standards.
- Use Git-based development workflows and contribute through pull requests.
- Proactively identify technical risks, blockers, and opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 5–6 years of backend/software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and backend architecture.
- Experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with PostgreSQL is preferred.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative development workflows.
- Good understanding of software development principles, testing, debugging, and code quality.
- Ability to independently own backend features from requirements through implementation and testing.

Nice to Have

- Experience building SaaS products.
- Experience with multi-tenant architectures.
- Experience with event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with Redis and caching.
- Experience with background job systems and message queues.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD.
- Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or other LLM APIs.
- Experience building RAG or AI-powered applications.
- Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of microservices and modular monolith architectures.
- Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and performance optimisation.
- Experience working in an early-stage startup.

Working Commitment

During the pre-investment stage:

- Expected contribution: 3–5 hours per day.
- Expected engagement: 6–12 months.
- Work will be planned around clearly defined product and engineering priorities.
- You will work closely with the CTO and engineering team.
- The expectation is consistent contribution and ownership rather than occasional freelance support.

ESOP-Based Compensation

This is an ESOP-based founding engineering opportunity during AtomFlo's pre-investment stage.

- ESOP allocation will be determined based on experience, technical contribution, responsibilities, and expected long-term involvement.
- ESOP terms, vesting schedule, cliff, and applicable conditions will be documented separately.
- The ESOP allocation is intended to provide meaningful long-term ownership in AtomFlo.
- Upon successful funding/investment, the role is intended to transition to a full-time paid position, subject to mutual agreement and the company's hiring plan.
- Salary and full-time compensation will be discussed as part of the transition to the funded stage.
