Mapp Law Chambers LLP is seeking a dedicated Associate Lawyer in Kochi, India for an initial 6-month contract, with the strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role based on performance.

The Role: We are looking for a sharp and highly capable Associate Lawyer to join our India operations. The core focus of this role is to independently handle and drive corporate advisory matters, while also providing high-quality legal support on dispute resolution matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Commercial Dispute Resolution: Formulate litigation strategies, brief senior counsels where necessary, and ensure timely filing and appearances before relevant courts and tribunals.
- Corporate Legal Advisory: Provide sound, actionable legal advice to clients on commercial disputes, contract interpretations, and regulatory compliance.
- Integral Spanish & European Legal Support: This is a dual-focus role where supporting our international operations is just as critical as domestic workload. A substantial portion of the daily workflow will involve acting as a core extension of our European practice, providing indispensable legal research, comprehensive document review, and high-level drafting support for complex Spanish and broader European legal matters.
- Advanced Commercial Drafting: Independently draft, review,



and negotiate complex cross-border commercial contracts, including but not limited to multi-jurisdictional joint venture agreements, international supply and manufacturing contracts, and corporate structuring documents. Formulate highly detailed settlement deeds and strategic pre-litigation correspondence pertaining to supply chain disputes, production delays, and breach of contract, ensuring rigorous risk mitigation across both Indian and European jurisdictions.
- Research & Reporting: Conduct in-depth legal research on procedural and substantive laws to support active cases, keeping clients updated on case progress.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: LL.B. from a recognized university.
- Bar Enrollment: Registered with the Bar Council of India/State Bar Councils.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with emphasis on corporate advisory and dispute resolution.
- Skillset:
- Demonstrable experience navigating Indian courts and civil procedure.
- Exceptional legal drafting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Commercial awareness
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple active case files with minimal supervision.
