Job Description:
A skilled IT qualified with 4-5 years of experience in Linux and VMware infrastructure support, possessing strong expertise in RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu and Windows Server environments. Well-versed in VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x, along with hands-on experience in storage technologies such as iSCSI, NFS, and Fibre Channel. Experienced in ITIL-based service management practices, with a relevant degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical expertise.
Responsibilities:
Linux Administration
- Server Provisioning: Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on physical servers and virtual environments.
- Lifecycle management: Perform regular system patching, kernel tuning, and software upgrades to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system health, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk I/O), and troubleshoot complex OS-level anomalies.
- Access Control: Manage user accounts, SSH keys, permissions, and enforce security policies using SELinux or AppArmor.
- Network Services: Configure and support core services like DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, and web servers (Apache, Nginx).
VMware Virtualization
- Cluster Management: Administer VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter server appliances.
- VM Lifecycle: Deploy, clone, modify, and migrate Virtual Machines (VMs) using templates and customization specifications.
- Resource Optimization: Configure and manage high availability features, including VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
- Storage & Networking: Manage virtual networking (vSwitches, distributed switches) and coordinate datastore allocations over SAN/NAS protocols.
Automation & Operations
- Scripting: Automate routine administrative tasks using Bash or Python scripting.
- Infrastructure as Code: Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) for uniform software deployment.
- Backup & DR:
Oversee daily system backups and replication strategies using enterprise tools (e.g., Veeam, Veritas).
- Incident Management: Resolve critical production incidents within stipulated SLAs.
- H/W Management: Strong experience with HPE and Dell servers and storage, including managing and provisioning storage volumes, snapshots, snapshot restoration, SAN, etc.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.E/MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Associate certifications
