Job Title – Senior Manager – Strategic Marketing & Communications
Place of work - Mumbai
Function – Credit Card
Job Purpose:
We are looking for a high-calibre marketing professional who can operate at the intersection of strategic communications, customer experience, cross-functional program management and senior stakeholder leadership. This role is designed for someone who can independently take ownership of high-impact initiatives from defining the problem and shaping the narrative to aligning stakeholders and driving execution through to closure.
The role will act as a strategic extension of the Marketing Communications function, increasing the team's ability to take on large, complex initiatives while maintaining a high bar for customer communication and execution quality.
· Own high-visibility communication and marketing programs end-to-end.
· Create stronger linkage between business priorities, customer needs and communication strategy.
· Increase execution velocity by proactively managing stakeholders, dependencies and agencies.
· Elevate the quality of content, presentations and narratives going to senior leadership.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Communications & Content Strategy
· Own communication strategy for major product launches, portfolio initiatives, customer journeys and business priorities.
· Develop communication frameworks, messaging hierarchies and customer-first narratives across relevant touchpoints.
· Own the content strategy for large customer communication programs, while partnering with the execution team for day-to-day production.
· Review and elevate the quality of key customer-facing communications, ensuring clarity, consistency and relevance.
· Balance customer experience, business objectives, brand standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Strategic Program & Project Delivery
· Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition and planning through execution and closure.
· Create clear workplans, milestones, ownership structures, dependencies and governance mechanisms.
· Proactively identify risks,
blockers and interdependencies and drive them to resolution.
· Maintain momentum across multiple workstreams and ensure decisions are translated into action.
· Build a culture of predictable delivery, accountability and ownership.
3. Senior Stakeholder Management
· Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the Credit Cards business and central functions.
· Partner closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, CX and other relevant teams.
· Influence stakeholders through structured thinking, data and compelling recommendations.
· Represent Marketing Communications confidently in senior forums and working groups.
· Drive alignment where priorities, timelines or perspectives differ.
4. Executive Communication & Storytelling
· Develop executive-ready presentations, strategy documents, business updates and decision papers.
· Translate complex problems, data and customer insights into simple, compelling narratives.
· Present recommendations to senior leadership with clarity, confidence and commercial judgement.
· Anticipate leadership questions and ensure proposals are supported by strong rationale and evidence.
5. Agency & Partner Leadership
· Lead senior-level relationships with creative, media, digital, technology and other agency partners.
· Set strategic direction and briefs rather than limiting engagement to executional feedback.
· Challenge agencies to improve quality, speed, innovation and business impact.
· Drive accountability across partners and ensure outputs meet agreed objectives and standards.
6. Team Enablement & Quality Leadership
· Partner with the Marketing Communications Lead to strengthen the team's overall strategic capability.
· Mentor junior team members on structured problem solving, stakeholder management, communication strategy and executive storytelling.
· Review high-impact deliverables and provide constructive, high-quality feedback.
· Create repeatable frameworks, templates and ways of working that improve team effectiveness.
Secondary Roles & Responsibilities:
· Thinks like a consultant, communicates like a marketer and executes like an operator.
· Can walk into a room with senior leaders and hold their own.
· Can independently build an executive presentation or strategy narrative with minimal direction.
· Naturally takes ownership and follows through until the outcome is achieved.
· Has a high bar for the quality of customer communication and business thinking.
· Is comfortable with ambiguity, competing priorities and fast-moving environments.
· Challenges ideas constructively and brings a point of view—not just execution support.
· Can zoom out to see the strategic picture and zoom in when execution requires attention to detail.
· High-impact initiatives move from idea to execution faster, with clear ownership and fewer leadership escalations.
· Major customer communication programs have a clear strategy, strong narrative and consistent execution across channels.
· Senior stakeholders experience Marketing Communications as a proactive strategic partner.
· Agencies and internal partners operate with greater clarity, accountability and quality.
· The team has stronger strategic thinking and execution capability through mentoring and better ways of working.
Educational Qualifications:
Preferred: MBA / PGDM from a leading business school. Solid undergraduate academic background preferred.
Experience:
· 5–7 years of relevant experience in marketing, product marketing, brand, strategic communications, consulting, program management or a related field.
· Experience working with senior leadership and complex cross-functional teams.
· Experience in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Insurance or another regulated environment is preferred but not mandatory.
