Role Purpose

To support and drive implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental standards across plant operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company safety systems. The role will focus on hazard identification, risk mitigation, safety inspections, audits, incident prevention, and strengthening the overall safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement and monitor compliance with plant safety policies, procedures, standards, and statutory requirements.

- Conduct regular Safety Inspections, Safety Audits, HIRA/JSA, and workplace risk assessments.

- Identify unsafe acts and conditions and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.

- Monitor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, confined space, work at height, hot work, lifting, excavation, and other critical safety procedures.

- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

- Recommend and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive measures arising from incident investigations.

- Conduct toolbox talks, safety awareness programs, induction training, and behavioural safety initiatives for employees and contract workforce.

- Monitor compliance of contractors with applicable safety standards and statutory requirements.

- Support emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills, emergency response plans,



and fire safety initiatives.

- Monitor safety compliance during shutdowns, maintenance activities, construction, and project execution.

- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with safe working practices.

- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident reports, audit findings, and statutory documentation.

- Track safety KPIs and prepare periodic MIS reports for management review.

- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, HR, and other functions for effective implementation of safety initiatives.

- Drive safety improvement projects and initiatives to reduce incidents and strengthen the safety culture.

- Support compliance with applicable Factories Act, Rules, OSH requirements, environmental regulations, and other statutory provisions.

- Participate in internal and external safety audits and ensure closure of identified observations.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in any engineering discipline with Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety.

- Recognized qualification in Industrial Safety as per applicable statutory requirements will be preferred.

Experience





- 5–8 years of relevant experience in Safety / EHS in an integrated steel plant, power plant, heavy engineering, mining, cement, or other process industry.

- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing/steel plant environment will be preferred.

- Experience in contractor safety, shutdown safety, and critical-risk activities is desirable.
