About the AI Digital Transformation Team

Ashoka University is establishing a central team focused on applying AI and digital tools to improve systems and processes across the university.

The team will work with multiple departmentssuch as admissions, outreach, academic administration, and student servicesto identify opportunities where AI can help automate workflows, improve data use, and build simple internal tools that make university operations more productive.

Position Overview The Senior Product Engineer AI Digital Transformation will lead the development of AI-enabled tools and systems that support university-wide initiatives.

The role involves identifying institutional problems, designing technology-enabled solutions, and building internal products that can be used across departments.



The individual will also guide a small team of engineers and help establish best practices for building and deploying AI-powered solutions within the university.

Role and Responsibilities

1. AI Product Development: Design and build internal tools using AI and modern software platforms to improve institutional workflows.
2. Partner with vendors to deploy frameworks and platforms that can be used for federated development across the university.
3. Process Improvement: Work with different university departments to understand existing processes and identify opportunities for automation or improvement using AI.
4. Prototyping and Implementation: Rapidly prototype and deploy solutions such as chatbots, automation tools, analytics dashboards, and data-driven decision-support systems.
5. Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging AI tools and platforms and determine how they can be effectively integrated into Ashokas technology ecosystem.
6. Team Leadership: Guide and mentor junior engineers within the team and ensure effective implementation of solutions.
7. Data Systems and Insights: Build systems that help the university use its data more effectively,



including tools that support student success monitoring and institutional analytics.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Education

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.

Experience

812 years of experience in software engineering, product development, or AI-enabled systems.

Technical Skills

- Strong programming skills (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Experience working with AI/ML tools or generative AI platforms
- Familiarity with APIs, automation tools, and cloud platforms
- Experience building and deploying software applications
- Microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless computing using Azure Functions or AWS Lambda.
- Project management tools like JIRA.
- OWASP Guidelines, Identity, and Access Management.

Additional Skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and product thinking
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, understand data elements across multiple applications and define integration requirements while maintaining relevant security postures.
- Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements
- Ability to ensure adequate documentation and adherence to security and development standards.
- Experience managing or mentoring small engineering teams
