PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects, including cost estimation, tendering, budgeting, cost monitoring, financial risk assessment, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and required quality standards.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE
- Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documents.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive prices and terms.
- Manage project budgets through cost forecasting and monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs and financial transactions.
- Provide advice on procurement, risk management, and cost-saving measures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Estimate quantities of various works as per drawings.
- Verify quantities claimed by contractors.
- Prepare variation statements and BOQs.
- Monitor daily work progress against planned quantities.
- Review drawings and raise RFIs for corrections and clarifications.
- Verify and approve contractor and subcontractor bills.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly work bills.
- Manage inventory and material reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly running bill abstracts based on site measurements.
- Prepare client and subcontractor bills as per contract specifications.
- Prepare and analyse material and subcontractor reconciliation statements.
- Verify external agency bills submitted by site teams.
- Verify extra items and conduct rate analysis.
- Check BBS and ensure accurate quantity measurements.
- Prepare and maintain MIS reports.
