About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Automation Test Engineer with strong experience in API/backend test automation, Java, REST Assured, Cucumber, and automation framework development. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience testing backend services and APIs in cloud-based environments, along with exposure to AWS, Splunk or similar observability/log-analysis tools, CI/CD, and performance testing.

Experience with AI/ML-enabled applications will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend/API automation test frameworks using Java, REST Assured, and Cucumber.
- Develop automated test scenarios for REST APIs, backend services, microservices, and end-to-end service workflows.
- Create reusable automation components, utilities, test data frameworks, and libraries.
- Analyze API responses, HTTP status codes, request/response payloads, authentication, validations, and error handling.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing.
- Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of backend applications.
- Perform load and performance testing and analyze performance bottlenecks.
- Validate application behavior across AWS-based environments.
- Work with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda,



SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, and ALB.
- Use Splunk or similar log-monitoring/observability tools to analyze application logs, troubleshoot failures, and support defect investigation.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, product teams, and other QA engineers to identify and resolve issues.
- Participate in test planning, test strategy, defect management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to improving automation coverage, framework scalability, reliability, and execution efficiency.
- Support troubleshooting of failures across APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Stay current with modern testing practices, automation technologies, and AI/ML-enabled application testing.

Required Skills

Backend/API Automation

- Strong hands-on experience in Backend Test Automation / API Test Automation.
- Strong experience testing REST APIs and backend/microservices-based applications.
- Good understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, JSON/XML, request/response validation, and API workflows.
- Strong experience with REST Assured - 2+ years.
- Solid experience with Cucumber/BDD - 3+ years.

Programming Automation Framework

- Strong proficiency in Java.
- Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch or enhancing existing frameworks.
- Valuable understanding of framework design, reusable components, test data management, reporting, configuration management, and parallel execution.
