Urgent : Purchase Manager (Industrial Piping) @ Andheri , Mumbai

Our client is one of the leading Turnkey Industrial Piping solutions providers of India .

They are specialized in delivering end-to-end piping solutions from concept till installation & commissioning of advanced piping systems & capital equipment.

In last 50 years , they have completed Many Many projects in India, Middle East, Asia & Africa .

Group company , manufacture a range of Pneumatic & Hydraulic Components , catering critical applications such as compressed air, vacuum systems, inert gases, process water, & chemical conveyance.

Position Summary

- Responsible for end-to-end procurement & Vendor Management for complex, high-value turnkey industrial piping projects (EPC/EPCM).
- This role requires managing project-specific bill of materials (BOMs), negotiating with pipe, valve, & fitting manufacturers, ensuring strict compliance with ASME/ASTM /ISO Standards & aligning material delivery schedules with site erection timelines.
- Should Lead, mentor, & manage the purchase team to ensure efficiency, productivity
- Commercial negotiation & contract drafting expertise.
- High resilience in fast-paced, milestone-driven EPC project environments.

Qualification & Experience:

- BE in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering
- Minimum 12+ (12 to 15) years of proven experience in Engineering procurement, preferably within Industrial piping, Process Plant Construction, EPC contracts, Turnkey Heavy Engineering / Aluminium Piping or Compressor Industry
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical materials, equipment, & technical specifications.
- Experience in leading & managing a purchase/procurement team.
- Hands-on experience in handling Letter of Credit (LC) & Bank Guarantee (BG) is mandatory.
- Preferred Proficiency in operating ERP software (SAP B1 & Tally)
- SAP MM or SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA , Oracle SCM can be considered & MS Excel is required for material tracking
- Strong understanding of industrial piping grades (SS, CS, Duplex, Alloy), piping components, ASME/ASTM/API standards, & NDT requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP MM, Oracle SCM) & MS Excel
- Collaborate with project, engineering, & finance teams to ensure timely procurement of materials & equipment.
- Develop & execute procurement strategies aligned with project requirements & organizational goals.
- Maintain & expand the supplier network to support multiple project needs.




- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, vendor agreements, & reports.

Key Responsibilities

Project Procurement Execution:

- Source, negotiate, & procure carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy piping, valves, flanges, fittings, insulation, & fabrication services for turnkey industrial projects.
- Analyze project MTOs (Material Take-Offs) & engineering drawings to prepare dynamic procurement schedules linked to project completion milestones.

Vendor Management & Strategic Sourcing:

- Identify, evaluate, negotiate audit, & onboard , qualified global & local manufacturers to ensure optimal quality, pricing, & delivery timelines. & identify fabricators for specialized piping components.
- Establish long-term vendor agreements to secure competitive pricing, favorable lead times, & high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with procurement processes & supply chain management.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment structures, performance guarantees, & Liquidated Damages (LD) clauses.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, & statutory requirements.

Cost Control & Budgeting:

- Establish baseline procurement budgets from proposal stage & drive value engineering to optimize total cost of delivery.
- Manage purchase order (PO) variances, change orders, & claims against project budgets.
- Monitor purchase budgets, track cost control measures, & ensure adherence to financial targets.
- Spend analysis : Data Collection , Cleansing , Classification & Analysis , resulting Cost Reduction , Supplier Consolidation & Better Negotiations
- Price Cycles Monitoring of commodities

Quality & Inspection Coordination:

- Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA/QC) & third-party inspection agencies to coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT), mill test reports (MTRs), & compliance with ASME B31.3 / B31.1 codes.
- Ensure incoming materials meet strict regulatory, safety, & client-specific technical specifications.

Logistics & Site Alignment:

- Oversee heavy transportation,



customs clearance, & site material receipt to avoid project downtime.
- Expedite critical path items & resolve vendor-related delays proactively.
- Deep knowledge of global logistics, freight forwarding , Import/Export regulations., FEMA , ECGC cover ( for Risk optimization / mitigation) , Tender Bidding & Allotment process , Clearance delays & demurrage charges
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, & cost optimization skills.
- Excellent leadership, team management, & interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, & decision-making abilities.
