Role & responsibilities :
Establish, implement and maintain quality management system in laboratory in accordance with NABL/ NABH.
Correspondence with NABL Secretariat, completing documentation requirements of regional CMO office etc
Ensure availability of resources /material to accomplish the tasks and functioning of the department. Eg equipment, Reagents , control material, calibrators etc
Ensure adequate manpower with required qualification and experience.
Identify training needs of staff members and plan program for competency development of staff
Selection & evaluation of suppliers wrt to lab material & services eg. Calibrating agencies
Selection and evaluation of referral laboratories
Create protected laboratory setting in compliance with valuable practices and applicable regulatory requirements like state pollution board guidelines
Ensure correct & timely Reporting of laboratory results with interpretation and advice on further testing or choice of examination as appropriate
Analysing the data collected; for continual improvement. Eg monitoring of pre analytic phase, LJ graphs of Internal controls, EQA reports, Clinicians & patient feedback etc
Signing of lab reports & revalidating the test results on borderline.
To modify / make change in test procedure , SOP , reference range , etc
Address complaints, suggestions, requests from staff members and user of lab services
Design and implement contingency plan in such a way that essential services are not compromised in emergency situation
Review of laboratory services offered in house and through referral laboratories and make required changes in the scope of services
Budgeting & costing wrt to lab tests & equipment
Member of Hospital Ethics committee & statutory committee
Monitoring of Blood Bank operations
