WE’RE HIRING | PPC & NESTING ENGINEER – PEB / STEEL STRUCTURE

SModi Infrasteel Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced and technically strong PPC & Nesting Engineer for our Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) / Structural Steel Fabrication Plant.

We are looking for a candidate who understands the complete flow of a fabrication plant — from approved drawings and BOM to material planning, nesting, production scheduling, fabrication tracking and final dispatch coordination.

PPC & Nesting Engineer – PEB / Structural Steel

-Location: Rohad Industrial Area, Bahadurgarh, Haryana

-Industry: Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB) / Heavy Structural Steel Fabrication

-Department: Production Planning & Control (PPC)

-Qualification: Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Civil / Production Engineering

-Experience: 3–8 Years, preferably in PEB / structural steel fabrication

-Salary: Best in industry, based on experience and technical capability

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Production Planning & Control (PPC)

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on project priorities and committed dispatch schedules.
- Convert project requirements into shop-wise and machine-wise production plans.
- Plan fabrication activities for built-up sections, columns, rafters, beams, crane beams, mezzanine members and other structural components.
- Coordinate production sequences across cutting, drilling, fit-up, welding, grinding, blasting, painting, finishing, packing and dispatch.
- Prepare and continuously monitor project-wise production schedules.
- Ensure production priorities are clearly communicated to all concerned departments.
- Monitor planned vs. actual production on a daily basis and highlight deviations.
- Identify bottlenecks affecting production and coordinate corrective actions with Production, Design, Purchase, Store and Management.
- Ensure critical and priority projects are completed as per committed timelines.
- Maintain proper production visibility for management through accurate MIS and progress reports.

1. Nesting & Material Optimization

- Prepare accurate plate nesting and cutting plans based on fabrication drawings and BOM.
- Optimize nesting to achieve maximum plate utilization and minimum scrap generation.
- Plan nesting according to available plate sizes, thicknesses, grades and project requirements.
- Ensure correct identification of material grade, thickness, member mark and project/job number before releasing nesting for production.
- Coordinate nesting with CNC/plasma/oxy-fuel cutting operations.
- Maintain proper records of plate utilization, balance plates, remnants and scrap.
- Develop suitable nesting strategies for reusable off-cuts and leftover plates.
- Ensure material is not unnecessarily issued or cut when usable remnants are already available.
- Track nesting efficiency and material yield project-wise.

1. BOM & Drawing Coordination

- Study and understand GA drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, BOMs and cutting lists.
- Cross-check BOM requirements with available raw material before releasing production.




- Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOM, material availability and production requirements.
- Coordinate with the Design/Detailing team for clarification of drawing-related issues.
- Ensure only the latest approved/released drawings are used for production.
- Maintain proper revision control to avoid fabrication from superseded drawings.
- Prepare project-wise requirements for plates, sections and other raw materials.

1. Raw Material Planning

- Prepare Material Requirement Planning (MRP) based on current and upcoming production schedules.
- Check availability of plates and structural material before releasing jobs for fabrication.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Store departments for timely procurement and issuance of material.
- Monitor shortages of critical raw materials and escalate them well before they impact production.
- Maintain project-wise material allocation wherever required.
- Optimize utilization of available inventory across projects without compromising traceability.
- Avoid unnecessary procurement through effective planning and utilization of available stock.

1. Production Monitoring

- Track every project from material issue to final dispatch.
- Monitor daily tonnage and production output against targets.
- Maintain project-wise status of:
- Material availability
- Nesting/cutting
- Drilling
- Fit-up
- Welding
- Grinding/finishing
- Blasting
- Painting
- Packing
- Dispatch readiness
- Coordinate with Production Engineers/Supervisors to ensure priority jobs move continuously through the fabrication cycle.
- Highlight delays, bottlenecks, manpower constraints and machine-loading issues to management.
- Assist in balancing production loads between different machines and workstations.

1. Dispatch Planning & Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, QC, Store and Dispatch teams for project-wise dispatch readiness.
- Prepare dispatch priorities based on site requirements and management commitments.
- Ensure members required for a particular erection sequence are planned and fabricated accordingly.
- Avoid incomplete or unplanned dispatches due to poor production sequencing.
- Track balance quantities after every dispatch and prepare plans for completing pending material.

1. MIS & Reporting

Candidate should be capable of preparing and maintaining:
- Daily Production Report
- Weekly Production Plan
- Monthly Production Plan
- Planned vs. Actual Production Report
- Project-wise Tonnage Status
- Material Requirement Report
- Material Shortage Report
- Plate Utilization Report
- Nesting Efficiency Report
- Scrap / Remnant Report
- Pending Fabrication Report
- Dispatch Readiness Report




- Project Balance Quantity Report
- Production Delay / Bottleneck Report

Strong working knowledge of Excel and production MIS is essential. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED The candidate should have good practical knowledge of:

Software Skills Preference will be given to candidates having experience with:

AutoCAD | MS Excel | Nesting Software | Production Planning

Experience with commonly used CNC nesting / plate optimization software will be an added advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS – KPI The selected candidate will primarily be evaluated on:

- Achievement of committed production schedules
- Improvement in plate utilization
- Reduction in avoidable scrap
- Accuracy of nesting and cutting plans
- Reduction in production delays due to material shortages
- Proper sequencing of fabrication
- Accuracy of production MIS
- Timely identification of bottlenecks
- Coordination between Design, Store, Purchase, Production, QC and Dispatch
- On-time project completion and dispatch readiness

CANDIDATE PROFILE We are specifically looking for someone who is:
- Technically strong and practical
- Excellent at planning and coordination
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication plant
- Capable of handling multiple PEB projects simultaneously
- Solid in follow-ups and interdepartmental coordination
- Able to understand priorities and take ownership
- Detail-oriented with strong numerical and analytical skills
- Focused on reducing wastage and improving productivity
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Proactive in identifying problems before they affect production

Important: Candidates having actual hands-on experience in a PEB / Structural Steel fabrication plant will be strongly preferred. We are looking for a person who does not simply prepare Excel sheets, but takes complete ownership of planning — from drawing/BOM release and nesting to production completion and dispatch.
