Role Purpose

We are looking for a CMA-qualified Manager – Costing with 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably from the logistics and transportation sector, to manage costing, pricing and commercial analysis for various transportation contracts and tenders.

The role will be responsible for developing accurate and commercially viable costing sheets for tenders, transportation contracts and new business opportunities, while ensuring profitability and cost competitiveness.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Tender & Transportation Costing

- Prepare detailed costing sheets for logistics and transportation tenders.
- Analyze tender requirements, scope of work, vehicle specifications, routes and operational conditions.
- Calculate cost per trip, per km, per ton, per vehicle and other relevant costing parameters.
- Develop route-wise and customer-wise transportation cost models.
- Prepare pricing proposals considering operational and commercial requirements.

2. Cost Analysis

- Analyze various transportation cost components including:

- Fuel

- Driver and manpower costs

- Vehicle lease / EMI

- Maintenance and repairs

- Tyres

- Insurance

- Toll and permits

- Loading/unloading

- Fixed and variable overheads
- Empty-run / return-load costs

- Depreciation
- Calculate contribution margins and profitability for different contracts.

3. Tender Evaluation & Commercial Analysis

- Evaluate new tenders from a cost and profitability perspective.
- Identify key cost drivers, commercial risks and assumptions.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis for fuel price, utilization, mileage, vehicle cost and other variables.




- Support management in deciding the minimum viable price and expected margins.
- Work closely with the Tendering and Business Development teams during bid preparation.

4. Transportation Costing & Optimization

- Prepare route-wise transportation cost models.
- Analyze vehicle utilization, turnaround time, distance, mileage and load efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to optimize transportation costs.
- Compare actual transportation costs against budgeted/estimated costs.
- Highlight cost deviations and recommend corrective actions.

5. Budgeting & Financial Analysis

- Prepare budgets and forecasts for transportation operations.
- Analyze actual vs. budgeted costs and profitability.
- Prepare customer/project-wise profitability statements.
- Track contribution margins and identify loss-making routes/contracts.
- Support business teams with financial and commercial insights.

6. MIS & Management Reporting

- Prepare periodic costing and profitability MIS.
- Maintain a database of historical transportation costs and tender assumptions.
- Develop standard costing templates and pricing models.
- Provide management with timely reports on costing, margins and commercial performance.

7. Cross-functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Operations, Logistics, Tendering, Business Development, Finance, Procurement and Commercial teams.
- Understand operational requirements and translate them into accurate financial costing.




- Validate assumptions with operations before finalizing tender pricing.
- Support negotiations by providing cost and margin analysis.

Ideal Candidate Profile

- CMA qualified with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in Logistics / Transportation / Fleet Management / Supply Chain costing.
- Hands-on experience in preparing tender costing and transportation pricing sheets.
- Strong understanding of transportation cost components and route economics.
- Experience in calculating cost per km, cost per ton, cost per trip and vehicle-wise profitability.
- Strong understanding of fixed and variable transportation costs.
- Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, lookup functions, financial models and costing templates.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and Power BI will be an added advantage.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess profitability and business risks.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
