About the Company The successful candidate will partner closely with business leadership, HR, procurement, and operational stakeholders, applying sound legal judgment while enabling business objectives. This individual must be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy, managing competing priorities, and providing clear, practical advice aligned with risk appetite and commercial goals. The role will report directly to the General Counsel, UK & EMEA, with a matrix reporting line into the Head of the India Service Center (GCoE).

Key stakeholders include HR, procurement, GCoE leadership, India business leadership and global legal and compliance teams.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

- General Commercial and Business Support
- Provide day-to-day legal support to insurance brokerage operations in India and the India GCoE.
- Advise business leaders on a wide range of general legal and commercial matters, balancing legal risk with business practicality.
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to operational and functional leaders, building strong working relationships across the organization.
- Employment and HR Matters
- Advise HR and business management on employment law issues, including hiring, disciplinary matters, performance management, termination, and employee relations.
- Support workforce-related matters for the India GCoE, including policy interpretation and escalation management.
- Coordinate with external counsel as needed on complex labor or employment matters.
- Contracting & Vendor Management
- Support procurement and facility teams with effective contract review processes, focusing on risk-appropriate outcomes and timely execution.




- Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, NDAs and outsourcing-related arrangements. Work with corporate procurement as needed on these matters.
- Ensure contracts align with global contracting standards and risk management principles.
- Client and Brokerage-Related Matters
- Support client contracting and brokerage-related legal matters.
- Partner with business teams to ensure adherence to local laws and standards.
- Escalate complex or higher-risk issues appropriately within the legal organization.
- Governance, Compliance and Risk Collaboration
- Collaborate with regional and global legal, compliance, and risk colleagues to ensure alignment with regulatory and governance frameworks.
- Assist with implementation of global legal and compliance initiatives at the India and GCoE level.
- Support internal processes, audits, and issue escalation as required.

Qualifications

- Law degree from a recognized institution in India; admitted to practice law in India.
- Approximately 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal role, preferably with exposure to financial services, insurance, consulting, or professional services environments.
- Broad, hands-on generalist experience including employment law, commercial contracting, vendor management, and general legal advisory work.
- Experience supporting business operations in a matrixed, multinational organization strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision while knowing when and how to escalate issues.
