MeridianSquare.Global is building CubeSquare, our Digital Property Infrastructure™ platform for regulated real-estate tokenization, initially focused on the UAE and expanding into international markets.

We are looking for hands-on Lead Backend & Database Engineers to take ownership of CubeSquare's backend services and PostgreSQL data architecture.

This is not a pure architect or DBA role. We need someone who can design the schema, define the API, write production code, optimize the database, and troubleshoot the system in production.

You will work closely with our Lead Full Stack Engineers, Frontend Developers, UI Designers and product/architecture leadership.

What You'll Do

- Design and build backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
- Own the PostgreSQL schema from design through production
- Build secure, versioned REST APIs
- Design data models for investors, identity/KYC, properties, ownership, transactions, wallets, documents and audit records
- Implement database constraints, indexes, transaction boundaries and referential integrity
- Optimize PostgreSQL using EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE, indexing and query profiling
- Diagnose slow queries, N+1 patterns, locking, concurrency and connection-pool issues
- Design secure, reversible database migrations
- Build multi-tenant data isolation and authorization into the platform
- Implement financial-grade patterns including idempotency, reconciliation, immutable audit history and transaction integrity
- Build integrations with external KYC/KYB, custody, payment, banking and blockchain infrastructure
- Integrate with institutional infrastructure including Fireblocks and KYC/KYB providers
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, RBAC and protection of PII/financial information




- Work with AWS services including RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, ECS, IAM, CloudWatch and Secrets Manager
- Establish backend engineering, database and API standards as CubeSquare scales

Required Qualifications
- 4–7+ years of professional backend engineering experience
- At least 2 years owning production PostgreSQL schema design and performance
- Strong Node.js + TypeScript production experience
- Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including:
- schema design
- advanced SQL
- constraints
- indexing
- transactions
- concurrency/locking
- EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE
- migrations
- Experience designing a production relational schema from scratch
- Experience with Prisma or another modern ORM, with the ability to use raw SQL where appropriate
- Experience building secure REST APIs
- Experience with multi-tenant applications and tenant data isolation
- Experience integrating complex third-party APIs using OAuth/tokens, webhooks, retries, rate limits and failure recovery
- Understanding of idempotency, reconciliation and auditability in financial or transactional systems
- AWS, Docker, Git and CI/CD experience
- Strong understanding of application security and protection of PII and financial data

Preferred
- Fintech, payments, investment, digital assets or regulated SaaS experience
- Redis and asynchronous/event-driven processing
- SQS, RabbitMQ or Kafka
- KYC/KYB integrations
- Fireblocks or institutional custody API experience
- Observability using CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Datadog or similar
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools while independently reviewing and validating generated code, SQL and architecture

Blockchain/Solidity/ERC-3643 development is not required. Smart-contract development is a separate specialist function.
