Job Title: VTS Operator (Vessel Traffic Service Operator)

About the Role
A VTS Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the secure and productive movement of vessels within designated port and coastal areas. The role involves continuous monitoring of marine traffic, providing navigational assistance, and coordinating with port authorities, pilots, and other maritime stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage vessel traffic using radar, AIS, VHF communication, CCTV, and related VTS systems.
Provide timely navigational information and guidance to vessels to ensure safe passage and prevent marine incidents.
Maintain effective communication with ships, pilots, port control, and emergency response teams.
Track vessel movements and maintain accurate logs and reports as per VTS standards and regulatory requirements.
Support marine coordination activities such as berth planning, resource allocation, and emergency handling.
Report irregularities,



unsafe conditions, or violations to the relevant authorities.
Assist in implementing safety procedures and port operational guidelines.
Act promptly during emergencies, including grounding, collision, pollution, or distress events.
Participate in training, drills, and continuous learning to stay updated with VTS procedures and maritime regulations.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma/Degree in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or equivalent maritime qualification.
Valid GMDSS, ROC/GOC, or VTS training certification (preferred as per IALA V-103 standards).
Strong knowledge of navigation, COLREGs, and port operations.
Proficiency in AIS, radar operations, and marine communication protocols.
Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Ability to remain alert, attentive, and calm in high-pressure situations.
Computer literacy and familiarity with VTS software applicatio
