Role Description The Fiber Technician role is a full-time, in office position based in Papanasam.

The Fiber

Technician is responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and related infrastructure for residential and commercial customers. Day-to-day tasks include handling cabling and fiber terminations, diagnosing and troubleshooting connectivity issues, performing routine inspections, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The role also involves coordinating with team members, documenting work orders and test results, and communicating clearly with customers and supervisors regarding service status.

Technician will support network upgrades, respond to field service calls, and help maintain secure, high-performance telecommunications services.

Qualifications
Cabling and cable management skills, including experience working with cables and structured cabling systems.
Hands-on expertise with fiber technologies, including fibre handling, splicing, and termination.
Solid troubleshooting abilities for diagnosing and resolving network, cabling, and connectivity issues.
Basic understanding of optics and fiber optic principles used in telecommunications.
Knowledge of safety practices and standards related to field work, ladders, and working at heights.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, network layouts, and installation instructions.
Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor and field environments.
Prior experience as a fiber or field technician in telecommunications is preferred.
Relevant technical certification or diploma in telecommunications, networking, or a related field is an advantage.
