Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain comprehensive historical financial models for companies, with complex product lines, geographies, and reporting structures.
Apply sector knowledge to interpret industry-specific KPIs (e.g., premiums, claims, reserves, solvency, embedded value) and reflect them accurately in models.
Navigate complex accounting, regulatory, and disclosure frameworks specific to Insurance and Financial Services to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Handle nuanced accounting treatments (e.g., reserves, reinsurance, investment income, capital adequacy) while building scalable and audit-ready models
Mentor and train multiple junior analysts on advanced modeling techniques and sector-specific best practices
Supporting automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and consistency in model building
Write explicit, structured financial commentary explaining model logic, assumptions, and key drivers, particularly for insurance-specific metrics.
Continuously deepen sector expertise to improve model quality and contribute meaningful analytical insights.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
Advanced Excel skills with hands-on experience building operating models for complex, multi-segment companies
Solid business models, capital structures, and valuation approaches
Solid grounding in capital markets, asset classes, and valuation methodologies, especially as they relate to insurers and financial institutions.
Familiarity with investment banking, equity research, or financial research workflows
Robust command of nuanced accounting concepts relevant to Insurance and Financial Services (e.g., reserves, capital, regulatory ratios)
Ability to clearly articulate forecasting logic and write high-quality financial commentary supporting model assumptions
Comfortable using GenAI tools for model analysis, validation, and productivity enhancement
Demonstrated ability to mentor and upskill junior analysts on complex and specialized modeling topics
