Facade Design Engineer / Facade Design Professional

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Development

- Design and develop facade systems, including curtain walls, windows, doors, glazing, and cladding systems.
- Prepare concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction drawings using AutoCAD and relevant 3D modeling software.
- Develop practical, innovative, and cost-effective facade solutions in accordance with project requirements and architectural intent.
- Prepare detailed facade layouts, sections, elevations, details, and connection drawings.

2. Technical & Engineering Coordination

- Ensure facade design solutions meet structural, thermal, acoustic, waterproofing, aesthetic, and performance requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, fabricators, contractors, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and design issues.
- Conduct design feasibility studies and support the selection of appropriate materials, systems, and components.
- Evaluate and develop solutions for glass, aluminium, curtain wall, cladding, doors, windows, and other facade elements.
- Review technical requirements and ensure designs are suitable for fabrication, installation, and site execution.

3. Technical Documentation & Drawings

- Prepare, review, and coordinate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, production drawings, installation drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Develop accurate technical details and construction documentation for manufacturing and site installation.
- Maintain proper documentation for design approvals, revisions, RFIs, technical submissions, and project correspondence.
- Ensure drawings and documentation are accurate, complete, coordinated,



and compliant with project requirements.
- Review drawings and incorporate comments from clients, consultants, architects, and project teams.

4. Quality, Standards & Compliance

- Ensure facade designs comply with applicable building codes, safety standards, project specifications, and industry requirements.
- Support facade testing, performance verification, mock-up reviews, and certification processes.
- Verify mock-ups, prototypes, and system details to validate design performance and constructability.
- Conduct design reviews and identify potential technical, quality, and installation issues before production and site execution.
- Ensure design deliverables meet required quality standards and project specifications.

5. Team Leadership & Coordination

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior facade designers and engineers.
- Review team drawings, calculations, details, and design deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate with project management, procurement, production/factory, fabrication, and site teams to align design deliverables with project schedules.
- Monitor design progress and ensure drawings and technical submissions are delivered within agreed timelines.




- Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Skills & Competencies

- In-depth knowledge of facade systems, curtain walls, glazing, aluminium structures, windows, doors, and cladding systems.
- Strong knowledge of facade detailing, technical drawings, fabrication, installation, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant 3D modeling/design software.
- Strong technical drawing, detailing, visualization, and design coordination skills.
- Understanding of structural, thermal, acoustic, waterproofing, and facade performance principles.
- Knowledge of glass, aluminium, cladding materials, facade components, and associated systems.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with architects, consultants, engineers, fabricators, contractors, procurement, production, and site teams.
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to review and guide junior team members.

Qualification & Experience

- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification; Architecture degree may also be considered.
- Experience: 510 years of relevant experience in facade design and engineering.
- Experience in facade design, curtain wall systems, glazing, aluminium systems, cladding, windows, and doors is preferred.
- Practical experience with technical drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, design coordination, and facade project execution is highly desirable.
