Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Engineer to manage the procurement of brought-out components, raw materials, and engineering items for machine building. The role involves vendor development, cost negotiation, timely material procurement, PO management, and coordination with internal departments to ensure uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of engineering materials, supply chain management, costing, taxes, and vendor management, with hands-on experience in a medium-scale engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities :

- Ensure timely procurement of materials at the most economical cost without compromising quality.
- Procure pneumatic, electrical, automation components, sensors, chillers, dust extractors, bearings, hardware, and raw materials required for machine building.
- Convert all approved Purchase Requisitions (PRs) into Purchase Orders (POs) within the required timeline.
- Follow up with vendors regularly to ensure timely delivery of PO materials.
- Coordinate with Production, Design, Stores, Quality, Accounts, and other concerned departments for procurement requirements.
- Negotiate with vendors to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Develop and maintain a 2–3 tier vendor base to ensure uninterrupted supply and reduce dependency on single vendors.
- Maintain accurate PO records, vendor documents, quotations, comparative statements,



and other procurement records.
- Conduct periodic vendor evaluation and rating based on quality, cost, delivery, and service performance.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement in procurement.
- Support team development and succession planning by mentoring team members and preparing them for higher responsibilities.
- Prepare and maintain MIS reports related to purchase, vendor performance, cost savings, pending POs, and material status.

Mandatory Skills

- 5–8 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement within a medium-scale engineering/manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of engineering materials, components, manufacturing processes, and costing.
- Hands-on experience in Supply Chain Management and procurement operations.
- Strong vendor network/database for different materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Sound negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of material costing, labour/service costing, and cost reduction techniques.
- Working knowledge of Central and State Government taxes/GST applicable to procurement.
- Good coordination and communication skills with internal departments and vendors.

Desired Skills

- Knowledge of Just-in-Time (JIT) procurement practices.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and procurement modules.
- Knowledge of ISO, Kaizen, and 5S practices.
- Knowledge of Import/Export rules and regulations related to procurement of materials.
- Solid analytical skills for MIS reporting, vendor evaluation, and purchase cost analysis.
