Khandaani is a design house reinterpreting India's textiles, architecture, and material culture into contemporary clothing. This role isn't design adjacent, it's actual design, from a blank page to a finished garment.
You're not chasing what's trending this month. You want to design something that still means something in ten years, not something that's forgotten the season after it ships.
What you'll actually do:
• Sketch original garments — silhouette, cut, proportion starting from nothing, not refining someone else's idea
• Work fabric and construction into the design from day one, not bolted on after
• Take a sketch through sampling, fitting, and correction until it's actually right — not approximately right
• Work directly with the founder on real Archive pieces that get produced and sold, not a portfolio exercise
Who this is for:
• You've got a notebook full of sketches nobody asked you to make
• You've redesigned something in your head while you were still wearing it
• There've been nights you couldn't sleep because a cut wasn't right yet
• If any of that sounds like you, you already know — this isn't a checklist you need to convince yourself you meet
What you get:
This is an unpaid internship, no fixed stipend. If a piece you design gets produced and sold, you get full public credit and a bonus tied to what it earns.
If nothing you design gets made, there's no payout. That's the honest deal — and also the point, this only works for someone who'd design the piece anyway, paid or not.
