Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage complete accounting processes for UK companies and clients.
- Maintain accurate ledgers, journals, reconciliations and financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Review and correct accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records within QuickBooks.
- Manage purchase invoices, receipts and expense records through Dext.
- Review and approve bookkeeping entries and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.

UK Taxation

Solid working knowledge of the UK taxation system, including:
- Corporation Tax
- VAT and VAT Returns
- PAYE and National Insurance
- Self Assessment
- Income Tax
- Capital Gains Tax
- Dividend taxation
- Tax-deductible expenses and allowable costs
- Basic knowledge of CIS and construction-related taxation
- Understanding of UK tax deadlines and HMRC requirements





The successful candidate should be confident in preparing information for tax returns and liaising with clients, HMRC and external advisers where required.

Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure accounts and tax-related work are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor statutory and tax deadlines.
- Assist with preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts.
- Prepare supporting schedules and working papers for external accountants/auditors where required.
- Review financial data for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Identify potential accounting or tax issues and escalate them appropriately.
- Maintain organised and audit-ready financial documentation.

Software Requirements

Essential:
- Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks
- Strong hands-on experience with Dext
- Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
- Experience with accounting and financial management systems

Desirable:
- Experience with Xero, Sage or other UK accounting software
- Experience with payroll software a
