Job Description: Senior Software Engineer Backend and Workflow Platforms

Role Purpose

Design, build and operate enterprise backend services, microservices and API layers using Node.js, with hands

on implementation experience in Camunda and Drools.

The role requires a robust software engineer who actively develops, deploys and supports production solutions

as part of day-to-day platform operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable Node.js backend services and microservices.
- Build secure, reusable and well-governed REST and event-driven APIs.
- Implement business workflows using Camunda BPMN.
- Develop business rules and decision services using Drools and DMN.
- Integrate workflows and rules with enterprise applications, databases, APIs and event platforms.
- Develop reusable services for approvals, validations, notifications and exception handling.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system performance and reliability.
- Write clean, testable and maintainable code.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging and observability.
- Participate in solution design, code reviews and engineering standards.
- Work closely with architects, product teams and functional teams to deliver working solutions.





Required Skills

- Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and backend software engineering.
- Experience building microservices and enterprise API layers.
- Practical experience with Camunda, BPMN, Drools and DMN.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous processing and event-driven architecture.
- Knowledge of databases, caching, messaging and integration patterns.
- Experience with containers, cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of security, authentication, authorisation and API governance.
- Strong debugging, testing and production-support skills.

Experience

- 8+ years of backend software engineering experience.
- Proven experience developing and operating enterprise-grade microservices.
- Demonstrated hands-on implementation of Camunda workflows and Drools rules.
- Experience supporting solutions through development, deployment and production operations.

Preferred Experience:

A hands-on backend engineer who combines strong Node.js and microservices expertise with practical workflow

and rules-engine implementation experience and takes full ownership of solutions in production.
