Role: Sr DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer to support and enhance our cloud-based data platform on AWS. This role focuses on building scalable infrastructure, enabling data product teams, and ensuring reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency across the platform.

This is not a traditional application DevOps role the engineer will work on infrastructure and platform capabilities that support large-scale data ingestion, processing, and access. The role sits at the intersection of DevOps, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data ecosystems.

A key responsibility of this role will be supporting the migration of an existing .NET-based Data Product from Azure to AWS, including AWS infrastructure setup, containerization, Kubernetes/EKS deployment, CI/CD, security, monitoring, and operational readiness.

Depending on experience, candidates may take on senior/lead responsibilities, including architecture decisions, cloud migration, platform optimization, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available AWS environments for data platforms
- Support and contribute to the migration of an existing .NET-based Data Product from Azure to AWS
- Analyze existing Azure infrastructure and workloads and define appropriate AWS services and target architecture
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support platform, application, and data workloads
- Enable data teams by developing reusable platform capabilities for data ingestion and processing
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
- Design, configure, and manage Kubernetes/EKS environments including deployments, services, networking, scaling, and workload management
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues,



and ensure high availability of platform services
- Optimize infrastructure performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency for data workloads
- Develop automation scripts and tools using Python
- Support data platform services including data lakes, ingestion frameworks, and processing layers
- Participate in on-call support, production issue triage, and incident resolution
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and other cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with platform and application needs
- Support cloud migration activities including infrastructure, networking, security, CI/CD, monitoring, and operational readiness
- Maintain clear documentation of system architecture, infrastructure, migration processes, and operational procedures

Key Skills and Qualifications

- Solid hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (S3, IAM, Lambda, EKS, RDS, VPC, Glue, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, etc.)
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS production experience with EKS is required
- Proficiency in Terraform, including writing, debugging, and managing infrastructure configurations and reusable modules
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python (Java/.NET is a plus)
- Strong experience with Docker and containerized application deployments
- Sound knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD, Git, automation frameworks)
- Experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting workloads running on Kubernetes/EKS
- Understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security, compute, storage, monitoring,



and high availability
- Understanding of data platforms, including data lakes, pipelines, distributed systems, and large-scale data workloads
- Experience with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, RDS)
- Experience with cloud migration, preferably Azure-to-AWS migration
- Ability to understand existing Azure-based infrastructure and map workloads/services to appropriate AWS solutions

Experience

- 4–8 years: Strong hands-on DevOps / Platform Engineer with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and EKS experience
- 8–12+ years: Ability to take ownership of platform design, cloud migration, optimization, and technical decision-making
- Experience working with containerized applications and Kubernetes-based platforms
- Experience supporting or executing cloud migration projects, preferably Azure-to-AWS
- Experience working with .NET-based applications or data products is a plus
- Experience working in Agile/Kanban environments
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud, infrastructure, Kubernetes, and platform issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving platform environment

Preferred

- Experience with AWS data services (Glue, Athena, Lake Formation)
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace)
- Advanced experience with Kubernetes/EKS and container orchestration
- Experience with Kubernetes deployment automation
- Exposure to secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager)
- Experience with cloud migration, particularly Azure-to-AWS or on-prem-to-AWS
- Experience working with .NET-based data platforms or applications
- AWS certifications (DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect)
- Familiarity with Ansible (optional)
- Exposure to data lake technologies (Hudi, Iceberg)
- Familiarity with streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink)
