Role & responsibilities
- Lead and drive the execution of the organization's litigation strategy, as defined by the Head of Litigation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of litigation matters, including civil, commercial, consumer, regulatory, arbitration, and criminal cases involving the company/Projects.
- Appoint, brief, and coordinate with external counsels, senior advocates, and legal consultants in consultation with the management and the Head of Litigation, ensuring effective case strategy and timely representation.
- Oversee litigation before various judicial, quasi-judicial, regulatory, and statutory authorities across jurisdictions.
- Execute litigation strategies approved by the Head of Litigation, evaluate legal risks, and recommend practical solutions to safeguard the company's interests while minimizing financial and reputational exposure.
- Monitor the progress of ongoing litigation, review pleadings, affidavits, written statements, appeals,
and other legal documents prepared by external counsel.
- Ensure timely filing of cases, responses, appeals, and compliance with court directions and statutory timelines.
- Proactively collaborate with the non-litigation/legal documentation team during contract drafting, transaction structuring, and documentation to identify and mitigate potential litigation risks.
- Advise business and functional teams on prevention of dispute, legal exposure, and litigation-related implications of business decisions.
- Maintain comprehensive litigation records, MIS reports, legal dashboards, and periodic updates for senior management.
- Support negotiations, mediation, settlement discussions, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms wherever commercially appropriate.
- 12. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, court orders, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.
