Job Summary

The Service Architecture Lead is responsible for defining and governing service architecture for software-enabled products to ensure they are deployable, maintainable, recoverable, diagnosable, and service-ready across the full product lifecycle. This role translates system-level service strategy into standards, requirements, reusable procedures, and service offerings that can be executed by engineering teams, service teams, and implementation resources across recent product development and on-market products.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, GSRE Upstream Automation and is part of Global Service engineering department located in Portsmouth, UK or Bangalore, India and will be an on-site role.
What you will do
- Define and maintain service architecture standards, design patterns, and guardrails across software-enabled products. Drive standardization of deployment architectures, reference designs, and reusable assets (templates, checklists, tooling)
- Lead Service Design Reviews (SDRs) across NPD and lifecycle programs to ensure deployability, recoverability,



diagnostics, and upgradeability
- Own core design domains including:
- Field Installation upgrade strategy
- Backup, restore data integrity
- Crash recovery resilience
- Diagnostics, logging, and observability
- IT/OT integration (networking, domain, security)
- Translate field and service requirements into technical architecture requirements early in product development
- Lead or direct work of cross-functional contributors without formal authority, including engineers and program stakeholders
- Provide technical direction and coaching to peers, contractors, and cross-functional NPD teams to ensure deliverables are standardized, reusable, scalable, and aligned to Cytiva service expectations.
