Server Support Wintel Works independently towards providing support for escalated incident/problem management requirements (L2 support).

Responsibilities

- Expert on different Wintel Technologies and OS related applications, resolves at least 80% of calls routed to him/her , without having to dispatch to service partners.
- In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting on Wintel Platform and knowledge of server maintenance/configurations (Windows Server OS, VMware, Citrix, Novell).
- Windows Support L2 Add / Remove Domain / Domain Controllers, Trusts Administration, Sites And Subnets Administration Site Links Administration, Global Catalog Servers, Movement Of Users Between OUs, Organization
- Define Administrator / Supervisor Password restrictions.
- Managing Disk space, Processor Utilization, Network Utilization related to server.
- Analysis of log files.
- Root Cause Analysis
- Problem Management
- Backup Configuration
- Restoration Drill
- Patch Implementation and testing
- OS hardening
- Implementing Changes
- Good exposure on Exchange 2007
- Define Password length and Password Age
- Server Reinstallation and Configuration.
- Support during Software Installation.
- Define Account Policy.
- Linux Server Reinstallation and configuration.




- Use Jump start to automate installation.
- Managing Disk space, Processor Utilization, Network Utilization related to server
- Patch Management and Testing
- Linux messaging and security solutions.
- Experience in Veritas Net backup
- Troubleshooting web (Apache / Tomcat / PHP / Perl / Python / Chili ASP/ColdFusion), mail (Exim/Send mail/Qmail/Webmail/Spam assassin/Clam), database (MySQL / PgSQL / Cluster / Replication) , DNS, etc.
- Knowledge of Red Hat based operating systems, Red Hat Enterprise, CentOS, Fedora, etc and their Integration with control panels. Windows (Server 2003/2008) experience is a plus.
- Valuable knowledge of securing servers, services lockdown, firewalls
- Design and manage production infrastructure Troubleshoot and enhance existing infrastructure System scripting through shell scripts Manage customers infrastructure Manage hosting server farms
