What does a successful System Engineer, iSeries at Fiserv do:
The IBM iSeries Engineer will manage, maintain, and support enterprise IBM Power Systems running IBM i operating systems across Production, DR, Development and Test environments in a multi-client, multi-facility setup. The role includes IBM i system administration, performance management, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, security administration, HA/DR support, PTF management, virtualization, platform modernization, and close collaboration with L3 teams, onshore teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable service delivery.
This role will be performed from Fiserv India offices, providing overlap with US working hours. The work schedule will be between 06:00 AM and 06:00 PM IST in a rotational 9-hour shift, including weekends. No night shift is required; however, on-call support will be required outside regular shift hours.
What you will do:
- Administer and support IBM i / AS400 Production, DR, and Development environments to ensure system availability, performance, and operational stability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system health, including ASP, CPU, disk utilization, subsystems, TCP/IP services, job queues, output queues, and spool files.
- Perform performance analysis, root cause investigation, IPL activities, and coordinate issue resolution with IBM and third-party vendors.
- Manage BRMS backups, VTL, physical tape libraries, media management, and object, library, IFS, DLO, and full system restore activities.
- Support HA/DR operations, including iCluster replication monitoring, failover testing, DR drills, and recovery exercises.
- Manage IBM i security administration, including user profiles, authorization lists, object authorities, password policies, compliance requirements, and audit support.
- Plan and implement IBM i OS upgrades, PTF installations, Technology Refreshes, firmware updates, image catalogs, and virtual optical device management.
