Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ARC Welder to perform welding of ship structures, steel plates, pipes, brackets, supports, and other marine components using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). The candidate should be capable of producing quality welds in different positions while following approved welding procedures and shipyard safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW/ARC welding on ship structures, plates, pipes, brackets, and assemblies.
- Weld butt, fillet, lap, T-joints, corner and V-joints as required.
- Carry out welding in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
- Read and interpret welding drawings, fabrication drawings and WPS.
- Select the correct electrode type and size according to material and thickness.
- Set welding current and other parameters as per approved WPS.
- Prepare joints by cleaning, grinding, beveling and proper alignment.
- Perform tack welding and maintain correct joint gap and alignment.
- Inspect welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion and slag inclusion.




- Remove slag and spatter and carry out grinding/cleaning after welding.
- Perform weld repair and re-welding when required.
- Coordinate with Structural Fitters, Fabricators, QC Inspectors and Production Supervisors.
- Maintain welding machines, cables, electrode holders and other welding equipment.
- Follow hot-work procedures, permit requirements and shipyard safety regulations.
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain a clean and secure working area.

Qualification & Experience
- ITI / NCVT / SCVT in Welder Trade preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience as an ARC/SMAW Welder.
- Shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, offshore or heavy fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to weld MS plates and structures in multiple positions.
- Valid welding qualification/certification will be an advantage.
- Candidates should be physically fit and able to work onboard vessels, at heights and in confined spaces.
