Role Summary

The Storage Specialist executes the hands-on data collection, telemetry analysis and modelling that underpins the assessment. Working under the Storage Architect, they pull capacity, performance and growth data from array and cloud reports, run file/object age scans across access windows, profile hot/cold data, and build the tiering-opportunity and right-sizing analysis all read-only and agent-less wherever possible.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect capacity, utilization, performance and growth data per array, pool and share from native tools.
- Run file and object age scans across 1/7/30/90-day access windows and profile hot vs cold data.
- Build tiering-opportunity sizing (TB reclaimable), right-sized tier maps and cost-by-class models.
- Prepare data-quality logs, transparent anomalies and support the findings walkthrough with evidence.
- Assemble inventory of arrays, NAS, SAN, tape, object and cloud platforms with owners and workloads.
- Support the architect in platform scoring,



BoM inputs and quick-win identification.

Must-Have Skills & Experience
- 8+ years hands-on with enterprise storage administration/engineering across multiple platforms.
- Strong with NAS/SAN/object arrays, native reporting/telemetry, and capacity/performance tooling.
- Comfortable with data-analysis tools (TreeSize, InsightIQ, Diskover, Komprise) and Excel modelling.
- Understands access-age profiling, dedup/compression, and storage cost drivers.
- Methodical, evidence-driven, able to produce clean analysis packs.

Good-to-Have
- Scripting for reporting (PowerShell/Python).
- Cloud storage exposure (S3/GCS/OCI object).
- Media/unstructured-data environment experience.

Certifications (preferred)

Vendor associate/professional storage certs (Dell, Pure, NetApp), cloud storage fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP).
