Job Purpose

The Jewelry Merchandiser leads the lifecycle strategy for fine and fashion jewelry collections. This role blends creative product selection with rigorous financial planning to maximize gross margin return on investment (GMROI). The ideal candidate understands metal and gemstone market dynamics, tracks quick-moving fashion trends, and optimizes high-value inventory velocity across global retail and e-commerce channels.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Collection Planning and Visual Merchandising Strategy
- Assortment Architecture: Build balanced product lines across key jewelry categories (rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets) and price tiers (entry-level to high-end statement pieces).
- Trend Analysis: Monitor global jewelry trends, runway collections, and red-carpet influences to forecast demands for specific metals, stone cuts, and setting styles.
- Core vs. Fashion Balancing: Manage the lifecycle of "never-out-of-stock" bridal and core diamond essentials while driving fresh, high-turn seasonal fashion collections.
- Presentation Standards:



Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to design security-compliant, high-end display layouts that elevate product story-telling.

Precious Metals, Gem Sourcing, and Financial Control
- Commodity Market Tracking: Monitor global price fluctuations of precious metals (gold, platinum, silver) and diamonds/gemstones to protect product margins.
- Open-to-Buy (OTB) Mastery: Direct the seasonal OTB budget, adjusting purchase orders dynamically based on category sell-through rates and high-value stock turn.
- Pricing Architecture: Establish retail pricing matrices that account for metal weights, gemstone carats, craftsmanship labor, and targeted gross margins.
- Inventory Velocity: Implement tactical exit strategies, trade-in programs, or metal-melting strategies for stagnant, high-capital-tied jewelry styles.
