About the role

As the biofuel's market grows rapidly across the globe, BP's Supply, Trading & Shipping organization has developed a technology modernization programme to support its growth strategy in bio liquids and biogas. The Biotechnology team has a long roadmap to develop transformational solutions which includes the creation of a strategic platform for certificate management. This team supports the sustainability operations team who sits in the day-to-day execution layer of sustainability compliance and tracking for our physical trading business. They ensure that every bio trade we transact is fully traceable, properly certified, regulator-compliant, and reconciled against trading positions.
This is a unique prospect to partner with our sustainability team, to deliver creative technology solutions that underpin license to operate for our trading business and allow us to achieve our carbon net-zero goals.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and fixing the software and services that powers our technology solutions. In this role, you will work with a team of engineers and collaborators to ensure that the software is highly available, scalable, and secure.
- Build, test, and maintain software features with guidance from senior engineers and tech leads.
- Collaborate with frontend, QA, product, and platform teams to deliver high-quality product changes.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that follows team standards and engineering guidelines.
- Understand requirements, ask clarifying questions, and break work down into manageable implementation tasks.
- Add appropriate unit and integration test coverage to support reliable delivery.
