Role & responsibilities
- Cost Estimation & BOQ Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and rate analysis for civil, structural, finishing, and MEP works based on drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
- Drawing & Specification Review: Study architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify quantities, detect discrepancies, and raise technical queries (RFIs) to the design team or client.
- Material Take-Off (MTO): Perform comprehensive material take-offs for concrete, steel, block work, finishes, fixtures, and all project-specific items using AutoCAD, Excel, or dedicated estimation software.
- Tender & Bid Preparation: Compile tender documents, prepare bid summaries, and ensure all commercial and technical compliance requirements are met before submission deadlines.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Quotation Analysis: Obtain, evaluate, and compare quotations from vendors and subcontractors; negotiate rates to achieve competitive and realistic project costing.
- Rate Analysis: Develop and maintain standard rates for labour,



materials, and equipment based on current market trends, historical data, and location-specific factors.
- Cost Monitoring & Variance Analysis: Track estimated vs. actual costs during project execution; identify cost overruns early and recommend value engineering alternatives.
- Value Engineering: Propose alternative materials, construction methods, or design modifications to optimize project cost without compromising quality or safety.
- Database Maintenance: Maintain and update the companys cost database, rate schedules, vendor lists, and historical project benchmarks for future reference.
- Coordination: Liaise with architects, structural engineers, project managers, procurement teams, and site engineers to ensure alignment between design intent and cost feasibility.
- Reporting: Prepare periodic estimation reports, cost comparison sheets, and management dashboards for review by senior leaders
