We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer & Administrator (PostgreSQL) with 5 years to 6 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, administering, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will possess solid expertise in SQL development, PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, high availability, backup and recovery, database security, and automation. This role requires close collaboration with application development, DevOps, and architecture teams to build secure, scalable, and high-performing database solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL, PostgreSQL database objects, including tables, views, indexes, sequences, functions, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL and PL/pgSQL queries for high-performance applications.
- Participate in data modeling, schema design, database migration, and database version upgrades.
- Ensure database designs adhere to best practices for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Database Administration:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and administer PostgreSQL database environments.
- Manage database backup, restore, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database health, storage utilization, availability, and capacity planning.
- Ensure high availability through replication and failover mechanisms.
Performance Optimization & Monitoring:
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, partitioning, and PostgreSQL configurations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, locking, deadlocks, replication issues, and database failures.
- Perform database health checks, root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive and corrective actions.
