Clinical Dietician

Job Summary

The Clinical Dietician is responsible for assessing the nutritional needs of patients, planning and implementing individualized diet therapy, providing nutrition counseling, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to improve patient outcomes. The Clinical Dietician ensures that all dietary services are delivered in accordance with hospital policies, evidence-based clinical practices, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess the nutritional status of inpatients and outpatients through clinical evaluation, medical history, laboratory findings, and dietary assessment.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans based on patients' medical conditions and nutritional requirements.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for patients with diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, oncology, critical care, and other clinical conditions.




- Conduct nutrition counseling and educate patients and their families on therapeutic diets, healthy eating habits, and lifestyle modifications.
- Participate in daily ward rounds with consultants and the multidisciplinary healthcare team whenever required.
- Review patients' progress and modify diet plans according to their clinical condition.
- Ensure timely preparation and communication of therapeutic diet orders to the dietary services department.
- Monitor food intake, nutritional adequacy, and patient acceptance of prescribed diets.
- Coordinate with nursing staff, consultants, and kitchen personnel to ensure accurate and timely meal delivery.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient nutrition records in the Hospital Information System (HIS) or medical records.
- Participate in discharge planning by providing dietary advice and nutrition education.
- Conduct nutritional screening for admitted patients as per hospital protocols.
